Hope I am just over reacting
« on: April 23, 2007, 04:29:22 PM »
Thanks in advance for your help.

I was with another male and we: open mouthed kissed on and off for about an hour, he rubbed my unit a lot and put his mouth on it for about 4 seconds. I stopped this because I had not wanted it to go there to begin with. I have occassional bleeding from my gums when I brush which I had brushed about 2.5 hours earlier. I did not taste blood in his mouth during kissing or see it on me when I stoped him from when his mouth was on me. I had lunch just prior to this interaction. It was not pointy food. However, after I was with this guy, I noticed a small 1/4 inch scrape/red line on the lower inside of my cheek. It was not visibly bleeding. I spit out my own salive to see if theer was blood, and I could not see any. I am unsure as to how and when this scrape happened. lastly, I never touched his unit directly. However, it did move across my hand on a coiple of occassions. I have some hangnails and a small pin dot purple mark that was not bleeding that I was not aware of til later that looked like a small scrape.

Due to so much contradictory information out there, and my own crazy fears and usual conservative approach to these types of situations, I am now scared that I may have put myself at risk. Can you guys please let me know your thoughts regarding my risks and whether or not testing is required?

You have no idea how much I appreciate your support.

Hope,

Kissing, even if you just ate "pointy food", is not a risk for hiv infection. Saliva is not infectious and in fact contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

Getting a blowjob is also not a risk for infection for pretty much the same reason.

You didn't have a risk. Please read the Welcome Thread and follow the Transmission lesson so you can learn just what is and what isn't a risk for infection.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Ann is totally right (as always). So give yourself a rest... my advice... it would be good if you learn a bit more about hiv and other std diseases, the more you know the easier will be for you to prevent them and burn your fears away. :) Big hugs

Iwouldn't be worried but there are some extenuating circumstances
« Reply #3 on: May 14, 2007, 06:08:23 PM »
Thanks in advance for your help.

I was with another guy and we played with each other.  I am afraid because the hand I used on him had a pretty bad thumb hang nail (I pickled at it and chewed it the day before though the day of the interaction it wasn't bleeding but when I accidentally got lemon juice on it, it did sting).  I used that hand on him as well as on my self.  He did not finish, but I did.  My concerns are what if his fluids (I don not clearly remember if teher were any of his fluids present) got on this hangnail or on my urethra?  Since I do not know his status, I am even more concerned.

Thanks again so much.

Thanks in advance for your help.  This is a new situation I am seeking advice/feedback regarding:

I was with another guy and we played with each other.  I am afraid because the hand I used on him had a pretty bad thumb hang nail (I pickled at it and chewed it the day before though the day of the interaction it wasn't bleeding nor was it particularly painful, but when I accidentally got lemon juice on it, it did sting).  I used that hand on him as well as on my self.  He did not finish, but I did.  My concerns are what if his fluids (I don not clearly remember if teher were any of his fluids present) got on my hangnail or on my urethra?  Since I do not know his status, I am even more concerned.

Thanks again so much.

I am doing this at a moderator's request (ie. linking ot my original thread.  I apologize for any inconvenience).

Thanks for keeping your entries in the same thread. That's exactly what you're suppoed to do here so that others can follow the conversations.

HIV is a fragile virus. It would not remain viable in the circumstances you have described, even IF the guy  you were with was HIV+. You are worrying needlessly.

You need to (re)read the lesson about transmission. Masturbation is not a risk for HIV transmission, not even if you were using the other guy's semen to do it and you have nicks, bruises, cuts or other physical stuff going on.

There's no cause for further concern this time.

Cheers,

Andy Velez

Thansk in advance for your very valuable service and support.

I was with another guy and we open mouth kissed and even though I have a case of gingivitis I had not brushed or flossed for hours prior and did not taste or see blood.  I alos have readthat kissing even with teh presence of oral problems is not a concern for hiv.  However, he then first nibbled on my nipple and then bit it to the point of it hurting at which point I yelled stop.  I looked at it and it was not visibly bleeding on my nipple or down my chest.  However it was red/abrated and it appeared that skin had been pushed back revealing a red spot.  He said he did not taste blood.  He then left quickly.  Within 5 minutes I dabbed the nipple with a  white t-shirt and then with my own fingers and did not see any blood spot.  I am concerned because he left me with stinging/sore non-intact skin on my nipple that his mouth was on and I do not know his status or oral health.  Should I be concerned?

Thanks so much.

Only that he left after 5 minutes!

No risk of HIV here.

NB. Any advice about HIV is given in addition to your own medical advice and not intended to replace it. You should never make clinical decisions based on what anyone says on the internet but rather check with your ID doctor first. Discussions from the internet are just that - Discussions. They may give you food for thought, but they should not direct you to do anything but fuel discussion.

Hope,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Neither kissing nor biting are risks for hiv infection. Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. You've already been told this.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple. Read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence.

Ann
