un-ignore feature -- pathetic attempt at humor
« on: April 19, 2007, 03:19:02 PM »
I sent this in a PM to someone and probably should have stopped at that, but frankly this idea has great merit, at least for me.  Here is the alteration of the ignore/un-ignore function I suggest:

Quote
Pushing the ignore button acts instantly and all posts are ignored.

Pushing the unignore button elicits a message like "There must have been a good reason you put this person on Ignore.  Do you really want to see if he/she has changed?  Ask your friends.  We'll give you 10 minutes to think about it... thank you for your strict compliance with all requests."

If the unignore button is pushed again a comparable but more strongly worded warning should ask the user if she/he really wants to un-gnore someone they've lived in bliss without? and etc... make user wait another 10 minutes.

If requested by user, repeat this step 3 more times within another 30 minute period.  If user misses an unignore request in any 10 minute period no further requests can be made for 24 hours.  If user successfully makes 5 requests perform an auto-logout and if user logs back in begin 5 step procedure again

The suggested feature indubitably improves the existing one.  Once implemented it would reduce flame-fests and personal bickering by 36% or more, as our forums computer model clearly demonstrates, chi-squared and adjusted for inflation.  Should we vote?

So here, doctor, you see the patient is so palpably mad and complete, enforced isolation with a monitored Internet connection is the best solution for everyone, don't you?
String up every aristocrat!
Out with the priests and let them live on their fat!
