First Labs After Meds
« on: April 13, 2007, 04:37:42 AM »
After 6 weeks on Sustiva and Kivexa

CD4 - 250 (was 142)
CD4% - 32 (was 18)
VL - 54 (was 8,000)

Pleasing results, nearly undetectable and a nice increase in CD4 and a great increase in CD4%.  I'm still occasionally getting a little bit of a rash off the meds, but because it is so mild and inconsistent I'm reluctant to change meds at the moment when they're obviously working and I have no other regular side effects to speak of.  Was very relieved by these results and to be back above that 200 CD4 mark, hopefully I'll be undetectable by my next labs.

Very pleasing! Great improvement all round, particularly over just six weeks - and 54 is just on the threshold of undetectable anyway. Also great to hear there's been few side effects - hopefully the rash will clear soon... :)

great numbers... and a few years ago "54" would have been considered undetectable anyway :)

I wouldn't quit a PCP prophylaxis after one test result going above 200, I'd wait until at least a 2nd result to see a larger trend just to be prudent.

Good numbers Mr. London,  :D hope the rash clears soon and you're on the road to a long period of stability.

That is great news!  Congratulations!!

Now may you see the rash disappear and continued increase in CD4 count/% and decrease in vl -- although, as philly pointed out, 54 would be undetectable using the test my doc continues to use, where undetectable is defined as <400.

So, my advice is to tell your doctor to use that cheaper, less sensitive test so you too can claim your vl is undetectable ;)

Continued good luck with your regimen and life!
