Dating and Height
« on: April 17, 2007, 03:01:42 PM »
I met someone recently who has an exciting personality, likes me and is adorable. The only thing I have a problem with is his height. He is 5'4", I am no giant myself but I never really have dated anyone shorter than I. I am 5'9". Am I being dumb for finding his height an issue?

In my opinion?  Yes, you are being dumb.

Let's see:  this guy has an exciting personality, is adorable, and likes you.
So why would you care if he is 5'4" or 6'4"?  I say that somewhat flippantly,
but really, why is this a problem for you?  To me, height is a "dumb" reason
for not dating someone you are interested in, and is interested in you.

Think of it this way:  following your logic, guys taller than you would have
"issues" with dating you.  But they apparently have not.

I'll repeat it one more time:  this guy has an exciting personality, is adorable,
and likes you.  Ask him out on a date, fer chrissakes!

One of my favorite boyfriends from my past was 5'4", 7" shorter than I am! Sounds like you've met a HUMAN BEING who is likable and worthwhile! If it were me, I'd be very happy to have met him and go for it!

I know, I know. I am being a bitch and most of all dumb for finding his height an issue. He has more personality than anyone else I have met, kisses great and likes me. He wants to "date" and I feel like a total jerk for pushing him away. Shame on me.

I agree, height should not be an issue.

Go for it ..!  I don't want to see a post in a year from you asking this forum  why you're lonely and have no one in your life.

Sadboy,

Given your other thread regarding self-destruction, it's possible you are just using his
height as an excuse to push him away.  You may be feeling like a jerk and feeling ashamed
right now, but that's not very productive.  I bet you'd feel a lot better if you picked up
the phone, gave him a call, and asked him out.

He's a good kisser too?  Damn, boy, pick up the phone!

Personally, I think short guys are cute.  And tall guys.  And guys inbetween.  ;)

I personally have a thing for many short guys.  Of course, I personally have a thing for all sorts of guys.  I'm just saying the stature thing has an certain attractive allure for me.

Maybe it is just another of my self-destructive decisions, I don't know. I think it has to do with shallowness. We talk on the phone so I will invite him out this weekend. I hope I don't mess it up with him. I'll keep you guys up to date. Thanks boys, I needed to get slapped a couple of time to snap out of it.

Coming from someone who is 5'4".

Yes.
 :D

But I'm going to be reasonable here and say I know where you're coming from. I am the same way, but it's much easier for me because pretty much every guy in the world is taller than I am. The shortest boyfriend I've ever had is exactly the same height as me, and he is my current boyfriend. I think it just takes some getting used to. If he's as good as he sounds you should totally ignore the height thing.

From my experience, short guys seem to always make up their lack of height in other departments...... ;)

Don't pass up a good thing because of something superficial.

I'd wager that those "other departments" aren't entirely superficial.  In fact I know they aren't.

Nice that he has a cute but, however I am more interested in what is up front.

thunter- a penis is a penis (nothing less than 6") but I really haven't met any men who are less than 6". Penis size hasn't been a problem with me yet.

I dated a guy who was 5'3" and had a 26" waist and it was no problem but then I tend to find shorter men attractive. I admit I get intimidated a bit by men who are really tall (I'm 5'9"). My best friend loves to rib me about me "being afraid he's going to manhandle you and violate your virgin white ass."

I don't think I would let myself get bound by either size requirement.

This thread is incredulous

Doubt breeds doubt.

Wondering!
The Bible contains 6 admonishments to homosexuals,
and 362 to heterosexuals.
This doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals,
It's just that they need more supervision.
