First Lab Results on meds 3/23/07
« on: March 23, 2007, 04:54:03 PM »
I went to get my lab results and unfortuntately my VL results didn't come back because there still "in progress"

But I did get my CD4 counts and they have improved.

1/4/07 = 200 and 16%
3/13/07 = 386 and 22%

I am relieved I am not in the so called "danger zone".  My next visit is in a couple of months. Been on meds 1 month and my doc said most likely my VL is very low or even undetectable. He will call me Monday with the results. I am in a better mood now!
Infected: April 2005
12/6/06 - Diagnosed HIV positive
12/19/06 - CD4 = 240  22% VL = 26,300
1/4/07 - CD4 = 200 16% VL = ?
2/9/07 = Started Kaletra/Truvada
3/13/07 = CD4 = 386 22% VL ?

Magnifico! Te lo dije! Kaletra is a very effective virus buster. I hope you will keep climbing in your cd4s and percentages. I hope you will go out and celebrate with friend or family or both.

Those are good results for your 1st labs.  Way over the minimum numbers.

This is a great way to talk more to your family about your HIV.  Showing them the numbers and explaining what they mean does a couple of things.  They feel a sense of relief that your "condition" is improving and it keeps them involved and keeps the doors open for easy communication.  Print out the results and show them the paper.  This way you don't have to look them straight in the eye and start feeling uncomfortable.  By talking about the numbers you can leave the discussion at that and when you feel more comfortable about moving on to other things, you can do that at your own choosing.

Are you sure it's a good idea? You know numbers go up and down, you want to get an overall trend, and testing too much won't, will it? Not sure.. I know i'd want to test every day!!!!!!! But I think i'd be in a rollercoaster if I did!
