I told my first family member today....
« on: March 16, 2007, 07:01:22 PM »
So on Feburary 8th my mom passed away....it was a long time coming. Out of nowhere the family has seemed to start reconnecting. Even if it is from one sibling to another. I am one of 14 kids.....and I went home for the first time in four years last night. My brother who is cool me being gay...was down from Toronto with his three kids. I build up the never(hoping my dad was not home.....btw..he was at BINGO!!!!) and popped in. My brother gave me a tour of my old house.....its now four seperate apartments broken up amongst the five boys living at home. Anyways he gave me my sisters phone number. I called her today. She revealed a secret from her past I never knew....and I dropped the "H BOMB" on her. Her first question was how long do I have to liive. I laughed. I have not seen her in 10 years and she asked me that. I told her it is more like diabetes and it is under control. She still thinks I am going to drop off tonight.....If I do its not because of the disease, rather the nasty snowstorm blowing through. I hate snow. Now I have a little more courage to start telling the other 12. And Lord help me...my father.

Wow! That is a big family. Drew is right, you will need an assistant to help you remember who you told, what their reaction was..:)

Disclosure is a difficult thing. Congratulations on your bravery and courage.
