What To Do With Old Electronic Stuff ???
« on: March 12, 2007, 01:30:21 PM »
As Spring cleaning commences, We're winding up with a growing box of outdated electronic goodies from years past... so far it contains : 2 satellite control boxes fromm direct TV, 5 cell phones dating back to '99 , , and several old cordless phones with bad battery packs.    I hate to just chuck the stuff in the trash ( yes Ill take the battery packs from the phones to a local recycler.. )  I know that the newer cellphones  will still work as "Emergency Phones" and will connect to 911 even if they arent subscribed to a carrier service.   Any Ideas ?? Will Goodwill take any of the stuff ??

See if any charities could use them.

In high school, I once spent an allegedly fulfilling afternoon driving all over town dropping off old computers from school at homeless shelters.

See if there's a battered-persons shelter in your area.  They will give those phones to the battered persons for emergencies.  Some fire departments do that also.

You could build an electronic dildo that rings when it's time to be inserted and can send private messages to your new phone for directions? 8)

You can probably sell most of the stuff on eBay, if you're willing to go to that much trouble.  The sat. receivers should sell easily.  The corldless phones might, if they're decent models.  I've got an 'eBay box' of stuff to sell.  It's so much more fun to buy there, though.

The goodwill, will take just about anything. However, if you check witht the right County services, they can help you out.

Several times a year, this area has collection sites for old electronic equipment, televisions, monitors, old paint and household chemicals, motor oil, and other hazordous products.
