Title: The Song Bird's Swan Dive
Post by: Matty the Damned on June 20, 2006, 08:20:57 pm
I'm not sure who the hell Connie Chung is but I think I speak for us all when I say that an isolated microphone is a terrible thing. (http://www.gawker.com/news/connie-chung/everytime-connie-chung-says-goodbye-we-die-a-little-especially-this-time-181349.php)

Matty,

She's an American newswoman, and once co-anchored the evening news on a major network.    I used to like her (until I saw this clip....now I need to rethink that)

It's all Maury's fault.....

To go from a well respected journalist to that...oh how the mighty have fallen.

Crikey, I don't know which is worse, her singing or that awful dress barely covering her moquito bites.

(yep, I can be bitchy too :D )

And what's up with the piano player? I know they used to use piano players during the silent film era, but a silent piano player in the time of "talkies"? ??? If the piano was included on the sound mix of this video, it would have softened the blow of that tuneless singing.

Looks like Connie was set up.

Ann,

It's a special edit of the performance where the track recording Connie's microphone has been isolated and the piano filtered out.

A piano can cover a multitude of sins, it would appear. ;D

WOW what a prelude to what a 5 bucks retired whore must do to round up her month  ;) ;)

Ann darling, look closer, it's not moquito bites, it's needle marks, that's why she is so natural  ;D ;D

Connie says it was only a joke. Well she's half right. It was mostly audio torture. Jeez, pick a key would ya?

LOL

You prefer this performance?  Or you like Roseanne's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner?  At least Connie didnt grab her crotch and spit.   ;D

     I didn't see this thing y'all are referencing about Connie Chung...and I hasten to add I'm glad I didn't!   ;D

I've never cared for her.  I remember when CBS tried to make a go of her and Dan Rather as Evening News co-anchors...which didn't last very long.  She seems stiff...wooden.

But...that's nothing compared to CBSs curious decision to put that Katie Curic on as the new anchor in September.  Look at the seasoned journalists CBS has had...Walter Cronkite...Dan Rather...Bob Schieffer...and now followed by...Curic??  Is it true or am I takin' too much Marinol!? >:(

For the life of me I can't see what people see in her.  Besides lacking experience (relavant experience...not the silly on-air stuff to which she's accustomed,) she does not possess the maturity to pull off a 'hard' newscast...pure and simple.  She won't last long...contract or no contract.  The first time she giggles or makes a joke about some serious or tragic story...she'll hopefully be toast.
She'll probably be fidgety and care more about her nails or hair than trying to read the teleprompter.

Sorry...I don't usually have such intense opinions (or at least if I do I don't share 'em)...but in this case I can't help myself!  ;D

Television news really does seem dead. Long live Info-tainment.
