Ah, neuropathy
« on: July 03, 2013, 10:18:28 am »
My legs are causing some consternation.

They ache almost constantly now, making life less than grand.

I am going to go back up to the maximum dose of naproxen the doctor will let me take to see if that helps.

I had cut down to preserve my stomach, but . . .

On the work front, the state has scheduled a training for the new expanded Medicaid (sorry you southerners are being left out in the cold) and the new insurance exchange.

The training lasts for five days. It is mandatory that I attend, not that I wouldn't anyway.

It also takes place the last week in September, right before we start enrolling people in these new programs.

Should be interesting, to say the least.

HUGS,

Mark

Sorry that The Neuropathy  is rearing its painful self for you.

When I switched some HIV meds and It became less pronounced. I tried many things before the switch including cayenne pepper oil,Tramadol,Lidocaine patches, and the drug you mentioned you are using and those things helped a small bit however when on my feet for any period of time it was more pronounced but was also awful at night just lying in bed.
Now With the newer med I seem to be able tolerate the lessened pain I experience better without the other meds. I still feel it and the burn down the side of my legs is there but the knife/needle sharp feelings in my toes and feet and fingers has also lessened and it has become tolerable. I am amazed this happened for me. The Burning along the side of my legs is still there however at this point I am not needing any med for it. The Numbness is there in my fingers and sometimes things slip through the fingers. Opps :-[

I hope you can find relief and stomach settles down. The meds can do a number on my stomach as well.  It is a difficult thing this neuropathy. Best of luck in your planning sessions.
Hugs
Calison.

Mark,

Sorry to hear about the legs and the neuropathy, I hope you get some relief from the naproxen. I understand hoe painful it can be.

Remember that invention, that scrambles eggs inside the shell,..Well,  sometimes my brain feels that way, trying to sort out all this ACA , Ryan White and health exchanges.... I get a headache thinking of it.

Have you seen the following Webcast? It's over an hour long, but I am going through it a little at a time.
I am not sure if this link works, but if it ask for a register and sign in just , just use Ryan White, and your state.

See if this link works.... please take care of yourself...

This web cast was from 6/25/13. You may find it informative. I may have to watch this a couple of times, and let Ed watch it , to tell me what I missed !

Take care---Ray

Mark   so  sorry  to hear  about the  Neuropathy  flare up.... mine used to be all the  way to the  knees   and  could not  set a foot  down  without something padded  underneath.... once I was  changed to the  prezista    it  has  gradually  settled  down  to the feet  and  is  worst  when just getting up in the  morning ..so  I am  convinced  that the  med  change did  something  to  break the  cycle   most of the  specific  meds  (  like  Neurontin  did  little or  nothing  so  stopped them  long ago)

have'nt  found any  real  data  that says  the  med change   works  just telling you it  sure made a difference  for me

Ah Mark,

As I'm sure you know, I've posted a lot about the issues I've had with neuropathy.  So I can sympathize with you.  Mine was started with the early meds, aggravated by uncontrolled diabetes, and still bothers me.  I was just telling a friend last night, when I cross my left leg over my right, my right foot feels like it's on a hot plate.  Anyway, I'm sorry you're going through this.  I'm on Lyrica, and the doctor just added Cymbalta.  I also take Celebrex, though have cut this back to every other day.  Please keep at least me, updated on how the Naproxen is doing.

I also have a training in September on the new health care law, but our training is only a day.  I hate those multiple day long trainings, ugh.  Good luck; I know the information is welcome, but the trainings themselves can suck.

You and I should exchange numbers and I could pick your brain on being in case management for as long as you have, while being positive.  I'm coming up on my third year, and know you've been in this much longer.  I'm going to pm you my number.  Thanks Mark, for always posting interesting info.

I don't envy you be required to understand all the details first.  Neuropathy is not something I've experienced first hand but am sending you positive thoughts.
