first blip very troubling to me...
« on: July 13, 2010, 06:45:56 pm »
I got my numbers today and for the first time since my diagnosis I had a blip of VL100.  My CD4 has always been pretty low (between 300 and 400) so I'm sort of down today.  I will try not to let it get me down and they just changed my regimen so that may have something to do with it.  I missed a few doses a month ago.

Any advice?

Sam

Why is it troubling?  A blip is irrelevant because at that amount it's within the margin or error anyway.  I've had two in the past four years.  It always is undetectable the next time my labs are done.  Seriously, you shouldn't lose a wink of sleep over this.

OK.  Thanks.  I guess with no blips I thought I had no HIV in my blood and that made me feel like I was negative or like everyone else.

At least my cholesterol went down!

After a couple of good labs I had my first setback with cd4 and I was depressed about it because my CD4 was already fairly low, but I think Philly is right, a blip is just that a blip.  If your VL was say 60k that's another story entirely, in 3 months you'll most likely see UD again so I wouldn't fret over it.

Glad to see these responses as I too had a blip last month.  Came in at 110VL.  My CDs are up though at 832 though so I am hoping in September to be at UD again.  Never missed a dose since I started 9 months ago.
I am sure you will be fine too.
