i just started. i know, i'm late. will get a headset soon. anyone else out there skype...with their clothes on? yes mtd, philly & ann, that last comment was directed at you, lol.

I've used skype for years to keep in touch with my ex when he was in germany and another friend who was in scotland it's neat to have real time video/voice with someone.

I Skyped for the first time a couple of weeks ago with a friend in Los Angeles. We chatted for 3 hours!

My partner got an iPad to take on trips and we just set up his Skype account. It will be voice only but it is better than not communicating for days at a time.

When my daughter was at university, she used skype to give me tours of her digs. Pretty cool.

my toe aint fixed. i havent been to the drs. the toenail is fine. there is a sore that wont heal on the outside. it sucks. ive been hydroperoxiding it and antibiotic ointmenting it. it hasnt gotten any worse. i think illl start with the epsom salts soon to help draw the infection out. i dont want to do oral antibiotics just yet.

back to skype. i'll get a mike and ill be good to go! this should be awesome :O)

Get a fucking headset. Don't fuck around with microphones and speakers. The echo is unbearable.

I haven't Skyped, but I've done the same thing on the net though MSN.  I've noticed when Oprah and news outlets use Skype, it looks really good...almost like they are using satellite.  I'm wondering if it is because they have faster computers?  Although, they talk to real people in their homes and it looks really good without the video being all choppy and audio off. 

Is Skype just better than other webcam services?  And has anyone tried the webcam roulette or whatever it is called.  On the news they said about 80% of those were people naked.  It randomly finds people for you to webcam with.

Now that would be a sight.  She is ending her show next year, so maybe she should go out that way.  By the way, I just heard on news that she makes her staff refer to her as "Mary" when talking about her in public.  So, look for Mary on Skype.

Your skype's video and audio quality has everything to do with the amount of bandwidth you and your partner have access to.  It detects how much it can use and then uses as much as it can during a video call.  My skype sessions have much better video than what I've seen on Oprah.

I've found the quality of audio and video both on Skype to be far better than that of YIM or MSM, regardless of what my internet connection happens to be.

But wireless broadband beats other connections hands-down no matter what IM service you use.

Skype confuses me. I think the last time I tried to use it, it was trying to charge me. And Matty and Ann does nude skyping? Not shocking, I would too if I was not in a relationship.

I didn't know you were hearing impaired I used to be a relay operator.  Anyway, it depends.  If you use the webcam portion and you sign then it would be useful for that.  If you have enough hearing that you can hear someone then the Voice chat would be good for you.

as for mtd, ann and a few others, im sure their computers require a biometric security clearing that requires a nude boot with intermittent nudity checks for optimal functioning...lol.

my last computer went into hiding when i took my shirt off. much like my computer, the world is better off when my clothes are on  :D

hellraiser - thank you for the info below. i have not fucked with skype yet. ive set up an acct but have yet to communicate on it. i don't have a mike yet and i can't afford one anytime soon. mtd suggested a mike and ear piece combo. i have one for my xbox and im curious if it will work with my computer. until then, i'll see if there is a way to just type and use the video feature.

Damn right. Mine reads nipples instead of the more conventional iris-readers.
