Medicare is asking for comments to determine if the
treatment of facial lipoatrophy (with facial fillers, etc) should be covered or if
it should be considered a cosmetic use. Who knows, if they end up approving such procedures, it could open the door wider in terms of other insurers following suit.

Please click on the orange "comment" button to explain to Medicare why you
think facial lipoatrophy is a medication-induced side effect that needs to be
treated and covered. If you can add your own personal experience as a
patient or as a clinician, even better!

We do not have much time. The deadline is Feb 16

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

I sent personal experiences with  my worst case stage four +  Lypo story and recommendations to include the restoration as is currently authorized for other restorations...would be nice if they included more than just the face......this case is specifically for Facial restoration......feet, arms ,legs and especially butt are  major problems as far as functionality is concerned.....arms always cold ( no fat layer) feet and butt physically hurt when you stand/ sit on and firm surface (no fat pad )

The same thing was happening with me and I (finally) figured out the reason. There is a link to "CMSPHI Posting Policy" which MUST be clicked on and opened for the rest of the webpage to work as far as filling out info. Apparently they want to make sure that everyone reads and agrees to the policies before being able to post anything. Here's the section I'm referring to:

"Please note: The "CMS PHI Posting Policy" link below MUST be clicked on and the policy read before the "I have read and understand..." checkbox can be checked. None of the data entry fields will be enabled until the policy is read and the checkbox selected."

I just now filled out a comment and it worked.  Did you open and read the very short policy statement and then check the box saying you have read it?  If you don't do that, nothing else will work.

Inch, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
