have been worried of contracting HIV.
I have had unprotected receptive anal sex last August 12, 2011 and i also had protected anal sex on October 12,2011.
On the last week of October, i started to feel chills everyday at night and i have stuffy nose and loose bowel once a day every morning. I can also feel 4 lymph nodes below my jawline and one small nodes(less than 1 cm) at the side of my neck.Later on, the chills is felt already even in daytime. I checked my temp everytime i had chills and it ranges from 37.1-37.4 persisting for almost 3 months .These continued until the 2nd week of January . After the chills and what i think is lowgrade fever subsides, burning sensation in my feet and hands starts to develop which worsens at dawn, i also experienced dry mouth and white tongue which i could not scrape. I had 2 episodes of hives all over my body which lasted for days and i dont have any known allergy. Know i have 1 ulcer in my lips and once i had it at the back of my throat. I also have feeling of tiredness, dry mouth, and burning sensation in my my hands and feet. The burning sensation is on the dorsal part of the feet, around the ankle ,in the calf, in the dorsal area of my hands but not on the sole of the feet and the palms and the toes.I have been tested negative for HIV antibody in December 14, 2011 and january 16, 2012 which turned out non-reactive.I also had my stool checked and found nmumerous fungus in my stool.
I am still doubtful of my rewsult since i am having all these symptoms.I also have been checked for my blood sugar, my thyroid panel and other stds. Are there tests in ASIA which gives false negative results?
Can hiv be my possible problem? Are there any other diseases which may manifest same as HIV?
Can peripheral neuropathy manifest in this manner – Burning sensation on the dorsal areas of the feet and the hands and does not include the sole, the palms and the toes? The burning sensation is worst when i am lying down or when i am wearing socks. Can, peripheral neuropathy and dry mouth this worse occur early in the disease?
Can lowgrade fever in chronic HIV infection subsides after a few months or will it remain until treated? Can lowgrade fever in be a manifestation of early infection and how long is the possible duration?
Can all these just be anxiety, can anxiety cause all these symptoms and can anxiety symptoms last long?
Can the fungus in my stool means i have a compromised immune system?
Can all of these be signs of HIV or can all these be signs of anxietY?
Pls. help me. I am so worried.

I feel that neuropathy and dry mouth and dry eyes are more specific symptoms of hiv since i don’t have diabetes and other illnesses which may cause it and what i have read that it may be caused by diffuse infiltrative lymphocytosis syndrome. I am afraid i might be one of the rare late seroconverters, could that be possible doc? I don’t have any history of cancer, drug use, etc.

Your test results are conclusive, you don't have HIV.

I was doubtful about the test used because i found out the hospital is using a rapid test from BIOD BIOTECH manufactured in china. I haven't heard of the test before. I am from the Philippines and it's the only test i could access through the government hospital nearest our place since i am living in the province. How can i be sure about the accuracy of the test? I saw the external control line appeared, could that be enough to prove that the test is working properly and is giving accurate result?

Freak,

You don't have hiv. The test used was reliable. If anything, unreliable test return false POSITIVE results, not false negative - provided they are done in the proper time frame. Yours was. You do NOT have hiv!

Keep working with your doctor to find out what, if anything, is actually wrong with you. Get a second opinion if you have to - but you have already ruled hiv out.

Don't keep coming back here with your symptoms. We cannot possibly diagnose what's causing them - ONLY a doctor can do that in a face-to-face setting. All we CAN do is to tell you that they have nothing to do with hiv. You are conclusively hiv negative.

And by the way, you did NOT have a fever, "lowgrade" or otherwise. Your temperature as reported was completely in normal ranges.

You do need to learn from this. The only risk you report was the unprotected anal intercourse (and you've tested conclusively negative for that). Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thank you for the response ANN.

Do you mean that tests from China even not in the list of approved rapid test by the US FDA still reliable as long as you are tested beyond the window period and that it is more likely to yield false- positive result than false-negative?

Hope you can enlighten me with this.

Thank you!

Yes, your negative test results were reliable.

And not incidentally, there is nothing HIV-specific about any of your symptoms. Which is not surprising since you tested negative at a reliable point in time.

If you continue to have problematic symptoms you should discuss them with your doctor. This is NOT an HIV situation. Period.

Thank you Andy for the reassurance.

I also had been tested for other stds as well as thyroid panel and blood sugar and everything is normal.

Are chinese manufactured tests even not approved by FDA still reliable as long as you tested beyond the window peiod?

How early in hiv infection does diffuse infiltrative lymphocytosis syndrome occur if it does which possibly causes peripheral neuropathy and dry eyes and mouth?

Freak,

BIOD BIOTECH is an internationally recognised company whose products are used all over the world. Their test kits are reliable.

Stop worrying! You do NOT have hiv.

You are conclusively hiv negative.

If you feel unwell, continue working with your doctor to find out what, if anything, is wrong with you. You have ruled hiv out, so start looking for other possible causes.

Keep using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will remain hiv negative. It really is that simple!!!

Thank you Ann.

I hope you do not confused Beijing BIOD BIOTECH from BIODEL?

My doctor could not explain my symptoms. I had negative tests from other stds too.

Thank you for the responses and I hope i would be anymore worried about having hiv.

I have now abstain from having sex after my last exposure.

Freak,

Yes, I was talking about Beijing BIOD BIOTECH. They manufacture many different types of health diagnostic tests - not just hiv - and they supply health clinics all over the world. Stop fretting!

You do not have to abstain from sex - just make sure you use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse. There have been three long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

Make sure you read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them correctly. A correctly used condom rarely breaks. The Condoms are a Girl's Best Friend link is particularly informative and is available in several different languages. Get reading!

Again, you do NOT have hiv. You are conclusively hiv negative. Use condoms and you'll stay that way.

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Ann and whosoever i can ask,

The sides of my tongue has white patches on which are raised, i am afraid its OHL. I still have burning pain in my feet and hands , legs and arms  and my dry mouth has been constantly present, can these white patches be possibly caused by my dry mouth?

Freak,

Why are you asking these questions on an hiv forum? You do NOT have hiv. Do I need to say it louder?

YOU. DO. NOT. HAVE. H.I.V.!!!!

If you're worried about your tongue, see a doctor or dentist. If you're worried about pain, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has NOTHING to do with hiv. You have CONCLUSIVELY  tested hiv negative. You have ruled hiv out as a possible cause - go find out what the REAL cause is - it is NOT hiv.

I'm giving you that time out you were warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.

Ann,

Just one final question. I don't want to be banned

can hiv cause elevated liver enzyme sgpt at 174 in early infection ( 6-9 months post exposure)? ultrasound with normal liver, spleen and gallbladder. sgpt in november(3 months post exposure) was at 39.4.

Had also elevated platelet 4 months 555,000 post exkposure then t went back to 455,000 next month and 405,000 yesterday. Can hiv cause elevated platelet?

I still am having all the symptoms i had.

I will be seeing a neurologist tomorrow.

Thank you

Not 5 minutes after your previous 28 day suspension expires, you're straight back in here doing precisely what got you dropped in the shitter the first time round.

You're a lost cause. There's no point in wasting a single second more of our time or effort on you. Your questions are ridiculous -- you were not at risk. You might be seeing a neurologist but there can be little doubt that you should also be seeing a psychiatrist.

Hopefully the first Goderator who logs in and sees the humbug you've just posted will send you straight back to the jug for 56 days.

Consider yourself warned and reported.

Matty,

It seems that you have not read my previous post. Saying i am not at risk is totally ridiculous considering i had unprotected anal sex with a person of an unknown status. It seems to me that you are compulsive and jumps into conclusion right away.

Anyways, just wanted an answer. I am sorry if i wasted your time.

The bottom line is that you have tested negative.  Conclusively negative, even if you refuse to believe it.  Your paranoia is something that these forums will not nurture or support.  You need to move on.

See a doctor for whatever issues that you may be experiencing.  You are wasting your time obssessing about a virus that you don't have.

Rev moon,

Ok.

Thank you.

That's a better response.

But just a question. Is it usual or unusual to have elevated liver enzyme in early hiv as well as elevated platelet?

I will seeking neurologists help tomorrow.

You have reliably  tested negative for HIV. Whether you believe it or not you are HIV negative. If you continue to have troubling symptoms you should discuss them with your doctor.

There is nothing more we can do for you in this setting. If you continue to return here about HIV you are going to find yourself getting Timed Out again from the site, but this time it will be for 56 days or permanently.

You might also consider seeing a therapist or other professional to get support with the emotional aspects of your situation. We can't help you with that here.

HIV is not your problem. Period.
