For what its worth . . .
« on: July 07, 2011, 11:23:05 pm »
This month is the 26th anniversary of being told I was positive.

Ah, the good old days, when the doctors didn't talk meds, they talked hospice. Damn fool gave me two years to live in 1985.

I'm still here. He died several years ago.

And who could forget those heady days when the first cocktails came out!

I was lucky, only 17 HIV pills a day, others took more. We called them cocktails because by the time we took all those pills, were were dizzy,  :D

Now, where is that single malt scotch I have been saving for a special occasion?

HUGS,

Mark

Congratulations Mark. You've always been an inspiration to me - and I'm sure you always will be.

I'll raise my coffee mug in a toast to you (it's too early in the day for whiskey!) - and here's hoping we'll both be here in another 26 years to toast you again. Hey, it's possible - you'd be 79 and I'd be 74 - groovy geriatrics. ;)

Hugs,
Ann

Hugs to you also Mark -
I always look forward to reading your posts - because I know at the end of each one is a great big, sincere "hug."

Grateful that you are here and for your willingness to share your experiences!

Outliving the doc who gave you an expiration date is the sweetest of revenge.  Here's to many more years.

Hard to believe that some of us have lived half of our lives or more infected. Tonight I'll pop open a bottle of Prosecco and make a toast to your future while never forgetting the past. Cheers comrade.

conrats on your anniversary, its very inspiring to know that your are still going strong after all this time and even outlived the doc who told you you didnt have long to live, its so hard dealing with HIV and the lack of understanding or education on it makes it harder to but hearing stroies like yours gives hope and optimism,  all the best to many more happy years  :)

That's what I find amazing, and a testament to determination.

Congrats, Mark -- I'm glad you are still here!
