Title: Was I really ever at risk?
Post by: mikey1207 on October 11, 2011, 10:47:08 pm
Hello,

I appreciate the time to take a look at my situation, as I have been really stressing over this situation for the past couple of months. Now, I am going to be specific so that you may understand what happened to me.

August 5, 2011. I went to a gay club, there was this guy who I didn't know and I danced with him. He then put his hand down my pants for about 30 seconds-1 minute or so. I had an erection, so he was just touching my penis. I don't know if he had any open cuts on his hands, as it was hard to see. But, I doubt it though? I also touched his penis for 30 seconds-1 minute or so, but then I stopped cause that was just weird for me. I then left, and I felt really bad for doing that, it was guilt because I didn't know him.

We didn't ejaculate or anything, but we just touched each other for not even a minute. So his hands were in my pants, as my hand was in his pants for a short period of time.

Now, I have been feeling very very weird lately, and I am having anxiety and thoughts about what if I caught hiv/stds?

Symptoms I have experienced within the last 3 weeks:

1. Pain on the right side of neck, but nothing is swollen, this feeling goes away and comes back.

2. Under my armpits- I have pain that comes and goes whenever it pleases, it's really annoying. I constantly look under my arms but I can't find the exact location of the pain. However, whenever I squeeze hard it hurts, but then again nothing is swollen so I am confused!  :(

3. I have a pain on the left side of my groin area, that also comes and goes. Again, nothing is swollen and I can't see anything abnormal! It started about 2 days ago, and now it's kinda going away. But, can this relate to an hernia? Since I work out often. Or could this be a swollen lymph node?

4. I had a red eye that looked irritated, it would go away and come back. Does this relate to hiv symptoms?

5. I also feel like i'm coming down the a cold/flu, but I actually don't get sick! I am scared, what if the virus is slowly taking apart my immune system, and I eventually will get sick! :(

****Lastly, on September 20, 2011- I got tested for hiv and the result was negative. So, that is about 6.3 weeks- 46 days. after the possible exposure. I took a rapid hiv test from planned parent hood. How accurate is this test? Should I go back soon to check from this potential incident?

This is the only sexual thing I have ever done with a guy, and I am mad because what if I get hiv from just letting a guy touch my penis (vise-versa) I didn't and I never had intercourse it was just touching! I am disappointed in myself.

Please help me! I am not sure why I feel like this. Could it be anxiety?
Thanks again and I appreciate your help!

You get HIV from having unprotected anal or vaginal sex. Not from a guy putting his hands down your pants.

HIV cannot be transmitted in that fashion.

You had no risk.

Yes, you will come back with "what if he had cuts on his fingers," or "I shaved myself down there," or "I have these symptoms." I get that. And I can tell you now that none of that matters.

HIV is a VERY fragile virus that cannot be transmitted through hand-fondling, getting your penis sucked, or ANYTHING except the above mentioned high risk activities.

I suspect that a lot of this is simply your anxiety from having a guy touch your stuff. You do not get HIV that way. You can get confused, and guilty, and anxious.

Whatever is causing your symptoms has nothing to do with HIV. If symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor.

As JK explained to you, there was no risk for HIV in the incident you have described.

Okay, thanks for your comments! I appreciate it.

But, I got tested 6.3 weeks after "exposure" as I say, and tested negative with a rapid hiv test from planned parent hood.

Do you think I should go back to test again? Can my results change? Do you think 6 weeks would be reassuring for the test to be negative?

Sorry, I just want to make sure! I am going to see someone soon to help me coop with my mental problems!

It's no surprise here that you tested negative because you didn't have a risk for the HIV virus.

There is no need for further testing.

Whether you believe it or not HIV is not your problem. Really.

Thank you, again. I appreciate your help!

But one last thing, like I have stated before I have this weird annoying pain that comes and goes under my arm pits, it hasn't gone away. I don't see anything swollen though. Which is weird and i'm confused as to what it could be.

Do people with hiv who have swollen lymph nodes are they visible? Because, I can' exactly locate that pain and my armpits look normal to me, but it feels weird at times almost as if someone is poking me with toothpicks.

This is weird because I have never felt like that, I'm hoping it's nothing to serious. Does this relate at all to whatever happened with some guy putting his hand down my pants, or me putting my hand down his pants for short period of time?

Whatever is going on under your arm has nothing to do wtih HIV. You and that guy having handled each other's penises in your pants is not in anyway a risk for HIV. Zero. Zilch.

You need to let go of that totally uninformed fear and get on with your life.

And if your underarm is sore, talk about it with your doctor.

This is not an HIV situation. And I have to say if you continue to return here about this totally non-risk situation, you may find yourself getting a 28 day Time Out from the site. HIV is not your problem. Really.
