Detectable but not quantifiable??
« on: October 25, 2013, 09:24:28 pm »
So I had my first labs since switching to Complera and things seem well - CD4s are up again.  So they tell me I was detectable but it wasn't quantifiable.  Anyone get this answer before?  Doc didn't seem concerned.  Basically said the testing has become so good they are able to measure things they haven't been able to before.  Seems that if it was detectable they would be able to measure it.  My thought is since they can't even come up with a number it must not be very big.  Anyways any insight would be appreciated.

I hope everyone is doing well.

I suppose that, technically, no one can say they are "undetectable" without getting an assay that is certified to consistently be accurate down to 1 HIV copy.  Which is why the result is actually reported as <20 (or whatever number the assay is sensitive).  That result could be because no HIV is there, or it could be that 19 copies are there or something in between.

Bottomline your result was presented differently, but most likely was no different than anyone elses.

Mike
