I recommend highly for everyone to get the Guardasil vaccine.  I just finished my 3rd shot and yes it's expensive ($150/shot for 3 shots) but they're spaced out so much you don't really notice it.  Hell, in NY a few drinks at a nice bar will cost you $150!

Oh, I know where to get those shots from free here in Philadelphia, but it's not going to help anyone who already has HPV.

At 38yo and gay it's amazing that you don't already have it   I forget the figures for gay males (I think it's 90% or so), but a quick google shows a prevalence rate of 77% for women with HIV.

How common is anal HPV infection? Nearly all HIV-seropositive men with a history of receptive anal intercourse have anal HPV infection. About 60% of HIV-seronegative men with a history of receptive anal intercourse have anal HPV infection, and even 60% of HIV-seropositive men without a history of receptive anal intercourse have anal HPV infection. One recent study showed that the prevalence of anal HPV infection stays pretty consistent at that rate from ages 20 to 60. Very little is known about how common anal HPV infection is among HIV-seronegative men without a history of receptive anal intercourse. Many men and women also have multiple HPV types at one time. This tends to be more common among HIV-seropositive men and women, and especially among people with lower CD4+ T cell counts.

this vaccine could be beneficial to everyone even if you have been exposed because there are so many types
and i think it is very localized so you could catch various types on various microscopic skin areas so

the hpv vaccine should have some good effects for everyone

also if it stimulates immune system to repress and suppress the virus that is already dormant on a skin area this would be therapeutic also

Can you provide some links to back up these assertions?  Last time I checked there was no research really showing this (yet) and subject was still being debated for men that already have HPV.  If this has changed I'd like to know.
