Title: 45 day test
Post by: alanb on September 19, 2006, 04:37:29 am
Hello
I have risk with Sex Worker. I use condom the SAME condom for oral and vaginal. I was drunk but I didn't notice that condom broke, looks ok but.... Vaginal sex take max 2 minutes, introduce oral 1 minute.  But if it condom is litle hole virus can transmit to me. And after 20 minutes this I wash my penis hot wather with soap. I tested 45 days (6,5 weeks) after. Elisa III (abbott)-negative. Should I retest?

Thanks
sorry for my english.

alan,

I find it odd that you've been lurking around here for five days now, sending private messages and only now do you come out with your question. I hope you've not been abusing the PM system.

Condoms don't have "little holes". The little hole thing is a myth made up by people who don't want you to use and trust in condoms. They only want you to have intercourse in a traditional heterosexual marriage.

If the condom you used broke, you would have known. They break in spectacular fashion - they're designed that way.

You didn't have a risk of hiv infection. You did the right thing and used a condom as condoms have been proven to prevent hiv transmission. You don't need to retest. You are hiv negative.

Nope, HIV doesn't cause warts. Neither do toads.

You need to stop diagnosing yourself without a license. If you are having symptoms you should discuss them with your doctor. This is not an HIV situation. As you have already been told. You were not at risk for HIV in this incident.

What the counselor told you was wrong unless you told him/her something different than you have reported here.

You used a condom for intercourse which is exactly what you are supposed to do. They provide very effective protection against HIV transmission.

I STILL don't see any need for testing.

He told me that my risk of infection is 1 to 3000 using condoms in my case. I told him that i use for oral and vaginal  the same condom and i didn't see that it broke. But now I don't know what thing about this i'm afraid meet someone.

Thoughts and feelings are not facts. So no matter what your mind may continue to come up with about this it won't change the HIV science-based reality that you were not at risk.

Go ahead and waste your time, energy and money and get tested if you must for the inevtiable negative result if that's the only way you will let go of this unwarranted worry.

Alan,

Your result is conclusive - you are hiv negative. Hardly surprising as you didn't have a risk to begin with.

Getting a blowjob, with or without a condom, is not a risk.

Intercourse with a condom is also not a risk. Condom have been PROVEN to be effective when it comes to preventing hiv infection. Keep using them and you'll stay hiv negative.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start - make sure you get a check up again in six months or a year, depending on how active your sex life is. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Hello

In hospital they cut it and it was: keratopapilloma. And I have question which from members on forum have this wart. And this is realated with HIV? I'm asking because it grow up within 3 months. I tested negative elisa III after 3,17,45, 87days ~ 3months and now I don't know what to do. Should I restest for hiv? The 4 days will change my status of hiv?

You don't need to retest. Warts, no matter what type, are not specific to HIV inwhich you have found out.

First you would have to know what a MEIA test is. It's called an ELISA test here in the US. Same test.

It tests for HIV1 and HIV2, so either it's a generation 3 or 4. Generation 1 only test for HIV1.

alan,

You didn't need to test over this incident at all. You had protected intercourse. Protected intercourse is not a risk for hiv infection.

You are conclusively hiv negative. You do not need further testing.

Alan,

You are absolutely, conclusively hiv negative. Do what you like, as long as that includes using condoms for intercourse.
