« on: March 07, 2009, 03:08:43 am »
Hi,

I just had a quick question. What is the risk if i had unprotected vaginal sex with a lady but did not cum? I am going to get tested at the 6 week period.

Thank You

Worried, whether you came or not is totally irrelevant in terms of risk to yourself. If you had ejaculated the risk would have been to your partner in an unprotected situation.

However, you did have a risk. Everytime you have unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse it's a risk that puts your life at stake. It's as stark and as simple as that. So you need to start using a condom everytime. No exceptions.

HIV is harder to transmit from woman to man rather than the other way around. But lower risk is not the same as no risk, so you need to wake up to the danger you're placing yourself in.

The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. All but the smallest number of those who are going to seroconvert will do so within 4-6 weeks after an exposure. A negative result at 6 weeks is excellent and an indication that you will very likely continue to test negative. But you do need to re-test at 13 weeks in order to have a conclusive result.

Good luck with your test.

Cheers.

So its been 24 days since my possible exposure, i have got a slight flu, sore throat and not a very bad case of diarrhoea for the past 5 days... Could this be ARS??? I have been really stressing about this for the past couple of weeks . I cant wait for the 6 weeks to be up so i can go and get tested..

None of those symptoms you are concerned about are in any way HIV specific. Right now I suspect you are viewing everything to happens to your body through the eys of HIV jitters. Take a breath and let that go. Neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms will ever tell you anything accurately about your HIV status.

Odds are you're going to test negative. Keep busy in the meantime while you're waiting to test. It really helps the time to pass more easily.

Good luck.

That's great!

Learn from this experience so that you don't ever have to go through this again. You can have all the partners you want and their HIV status will be irrelevant as long as you consistently use condoms for both vaginal and anal intercourse.

Good luck to you.
