MACS Study

So, this morning I had my screening visit to enroll in the MACS study.  I really don't have anyone who would really appreciate my doing it so I thought I'd share. :)  I know it's not a huge contribution, but I like the idea that I'm contributing in some way.  For me personally, it's empowering to take something that is an insecurity and a vulnerability and face it in such a constructive and proactive manner.  Way to pat myself on the back.  ;)

Is anyone else enrolled in it?  The study coordinator was saying there have participants involved in it since they started in 1984.  To me that dedication is admirable.

I give anyone tons of credit who participates in a study! It's why many of us are still here. Even at this point in the pandemic, it takes people to get us to the next step in improving meds, treatment, etc.

Kudos to you, Nerd!

I've always said "yes" every time I've been asked to participate in a study, although I've never participated in one that requires such commitment. So far it's always been a case of signing an informed consent form and having a few extra vials of blood drawn. I'm all for participating in anything that may help the cause - good to hear you are too.

Did they tell you the MACS study has its own website? http://www.statepi.jhsph.edu/macs/macs.html They even have a forum and I would imagine it's for study participants.
