So I ordered a vape starter kit from the store Jeff got his from.  They arrived today, there's two of them.  I think I may have a little different one than Jeff since mine do not have "smoke counters" on them.  They work wonderfully, though, so I'm happy so far.

I've been vaping since February 3rd and haven't had a cigarette since then. Amazing! I tried smoking one about three or four days in and had to put it out after two or three drags because it tasted absolutely disgusting.

My sense of smell has been astounding - and I'm finding it's both a blessing and a curse. The smell of cigarettes turns my stomach now and I can't believe it. Every single time I've tried to quit smoking before vaping, cigarettes smelled lovely and made me want to have one. I find the difference this time to be nothing short of a mystery.

I also can't believe how much people who are still smoking stink. It's horrible to know that I used to smell like that to people who don't smoke.

My sense of taste has also been heightened - and that's turning out to also be a blessing and a curse. Good food tastes even better and not-so-good food tastes even more icky than before. ;D This is something else I never experienced previously and it's just weird. I don't understand why this time is so different.

Mysteries aside, I couldn't be happier with vaping.

I have several flavours and I use different ones depending on my mood. So far I've tried cherry, mixed fruit, apple, chocolate, amaretto, vanilla and an alleged tobacco flavour. The tobacco flavour doesn't really taste like any tobacco I've ever had, but at a stretch it's similar to a sweetish pipe tobacco.

My favourites are vanilla and apple, but I enjoy all of them. I've also got a bottle of black cherry, but I haven't tried it yet. The chocolate was disappointing though - it tastes like fake chocolate syrup. It's probably my least favourite and I'll probably only use it if I've run out of the others. It's palatable, but not as much as the others.

I'd highly recommend vaping to anyone who has had difficulties quitting smoking. Just don't bother with the disposable types, treat yourself to one that uses vaping oil and I can pretty much guarantee you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I even got my ex-husband vaping, and he's one of the most sceptical people I know. He's still smoking the occasional ciggy, but I suspect that's more to do with the fact that he still has unused tobacco. He's tight like that and would rather finish off what he has than throw it out or give it to someone else.

And a big THANK YOU!!!! to the person here who made me stop dithering about vaping by buying me a vaping unit. I owe you a big debt of gratitude. :)

Im vaping a blend of banana guava now . I was not sure about the flavors but when I went to buy some coils yesterday the guy insisted I sit and try as many flavors a I could ... so I now have guava, banana, wild pom pom and a cinnamon one called great balls of fire .

The guy at the store mixes all the liquids and loved it when I called him Walter White .

I hate to break it you vapers ... You need a glass stem, I got one yesterday and its makes a big difference .

Some kind, wise man once told me that vape-ing was fake quitting and that he'd never, EVER indulge in it.

That be me . I am surprised at my change of heart . I was getting really concerned with my nicotine addiction because it was doing me great harm and I still would not quit so until I can cut down on vaping its all about harm reduction .

LOL piss off yerself. If you don't wanna be one of the cool kids, that's your choice. I'm just happy my vice no longer makes me stink, and it costs a lot less too. Win-win as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, Peel does rock. Not sure where you mean by Stanley though. There are plenty of place-names with Stanley in them, but no towns or villages. We have Stanley Road and Stanley Mount here in Peel, for example. The Stanleys used to be part of the ruling class here a century or so ago.

LOL @ Walter White. I've been meaning to try my chocolate mixed with cherry but haven't gotten around to it yet.

When you say "glass stem", do you mean the coil/oil chamber thingy? How does it make a difference?

Some kind, wise man once told me that vape-ing was fake quitting and that he'd never, EVER indulge in it.

Eh, whatever. I've quit smoking but I can still indulge in my nicotine addiction so if you want to look down your pointy nose at me (us) and say we've "fake quit", that's your problem as far as I'm concerned. I'm happy, my cats are happy, my Frank is happy, my daughter is happy, but if you're not, well, sorry 'bout that, and I hope you get over yourself it soon.

The glass chamber is bigger and holds more liquid ... its almost like the difference between surgical quality hardware and tupper ware LOL . It gives a real clean smoke .

I guess I should just admit I do not know why its better ... but it is .

You smell .

Nope, I never smoke in my apartment. And I never have EVAH.

I remember telling a therapist once that I really needed to quit and she was astonished that I smoked, because she'd never smelled it on me. I consider this yet another sign that I am actually an angel from heaven.

Ok, I've been avoiding even reading this thread for weeks. You all are doing so well!

My biggest problem is that I enjoy the taste of tobacco. I've tried several disposable E-cigs. Only one even came close to resembling the taste but it didn't draw all that well.

Has anyone come across an oil for a vaporizer that actually tastes like the real thing? I would buy a vape in a second if someone ever gets the flavor worked out.

I have given up so many substances throughout the years, so if me quitting cancerous cigarettes means temporarily vape-ing, then so be it.  I don't feel bad, or weak.

Mitch, I don't know about getting a liquid that tastes like your cigarettes.  I found a good menthol liquid at a local tobacco store.  Of course that doesn't help you, sorry.  But I'm sure there's one out there somewhere.  The vapes are a lot different than the disposable ones.  I've used tons of those.  I like this better.

Mitch, I thought that too about liking the taste of tobacco and being sceptical about finding a taste replacement after trying the disposable ecigs. That's why I was dithering so much about buying a proper vape thingy.

As Jeff suggested, go to a shop where you can try the different flavours. You will very likely be pleasantly surprised. The proper vape machines are very different to the disposable ones. I thought I'd need to have that tobacco flavour for it to really work for me, but it turns out to not be true.

My daughter is home for a couple days and she was outside having a (real) ciggy last night. I had a drag off it just to see what my reaction would be and it was icky. I had to come inside and take a swig of mouthwash to get the taste out of my mouth. I've been a smoker for 35 years and never thought I'd dislike the taste of tobacco. Go figure.

I have given up so many substances throughout the years, so if me quitting cancerous cigarettes means temporarily vape-ing, then so be it.  I don't feel bad, or weak.

Me too, Betty. Miss P is just unhappy that some of us are happy and enjoying nicotine without all the tars and other chemicals that tobacco has in it. She probably won't even try vaping just to spite us all, as if that would have any effect on us. ::)

No, you've just turned into one of the predictable evangelical ex-smokers who now think that they're sitting at the right hand of God. You know the type.

ps: I was the one who recommended vaping to your BFF Jeffrey months ago, only to be spurned in the same way I was years ago when I tried to force him off of Atripla. Some of us are dealing with medical issues and don't want to layer altering our cig habit until after that settles down. Consider yourself lucky that your life is easy at the moment.

Oh right -- and with $1000 in out-of-pocket medical expenses expected by the end of March I can't really fathom sorting out vape gear until that passes even if the pay off will be fine in the long run. Anything else to make my life less enjoyable this morning?

Hal, vaping isn't even 1/4 as expensive as smoking regular cigarettes.  I got your dig. Frankly however a person quits smoking, I think, is admirable, whether it's patches, gum, e-cigs, or vaping.

When I was laid up in the hospital, in a great deal of pain, looking forward to a drag off the vape helped me at times forget how sucky that whole thing was.  I am not, however, one of those "reformed smokers," that attempts to make other "real" smokers, feel bad for smoking real cigarettes.  My best friend quit a few years back, and never berated me for smoking, so I don't and wouldn't do it to others.

thought I'd need to have that tobacco flavour for it to really work for me, but it turns out to not be true.

I agree, Ann.  I actually like mint flavors, like chocolate mint, which isn't a surprise since I smoked menthol.  I did find a good menthol liquid, and will probably get more of that. But, I am liking other flavors.

Really, whether or not people vape should not be a big deal.  I guess I don't see why there is so much fuss all of a sudden.

Every state is different but in the "medical" shops they can smoke I think.   About a year ago I went to a cannabis market ( kind of like a farmer's market except for pot)  and there was a lot of smoking there.

The " recreational"  pot  shops there is no smoking, those  are regulated by the liquor control board and they are very strict.   They haven't opened yet, not until April.   But from the news they will be tightly controlled.   The medical shops operate under the old medical marijuana law and are basically unregulated.   Next year the medical shops will be just as regulated as the recreational ones.

Side note, a  new  marijuana delivery service recently started that's very convenient.  winterlifecoop.org.  I've used them and they rock.

Are there Vaping shops in London ? I have had no success finding one . My experience with the real ciggie has been the same as yours Ann and I was gob-smacked.

I am using motive 10 they have a welcome rasp on the back off the throat , but the liquid fill up ones are cheaper in the long run. When I can I will up grade but not over the internet , if possable.

I bought a disposable one coz I left the doings at home and it was vile .

One off the internet companies is selling a snake-bite flavour , can you imagine Ann.

One of the things that's a bit off putting is there is just so much information and product to swim through to find the one that's best for you.  The last thing I wanted to do was shell out a hundred bucks for something and then find out it's no good.

The thing I like about the MVP is that it has a large battery.  It also pulls a lot better than others I have tried.  I just paid $80 for mine out the door with three bottles of smoke.  You can find them online for $50.

It's got a big canister too, I bet I could put some bud in there easily. ;)

I've gone down two levels of nicotine, and am hoping to eventually get down to 0.  But, that may never happen.  I'm not making a big thing of it.

The vape I got is from the site Jeff gave me.  It's where he gets his.  They're good.  And the fact the battery is so big, means it doesn't have to be charged every few hours.  The cartridge is large that the liquid goes into, and in the kit there were two batteries, so you're never waiting on one to charge.

It's been the only thing that has kept me off the real thing for any long length of time.

I had the vape cig with me when I broke the hip.  The ambulance took me to the nearest hospital, which is Catholic.  I asked the ER nurse about vaping, and she said she didn't know about "upstairs" but said they were more liberal in the ER and I could use it there.  Of course when I got upstairs and after the surgery, I would sneak when no one was around.  That damn battery lasted me 3 days.
