Title: HIV? Extremely Worried?
Post by: davidsmith123 on February 23, 2013, 02:31:15 pm
Hi there,

About two weeks ago I had sex with a legal sex worker, we had protected oral and vaginal sex. After we had vaginal sex she gave me a handjob with a condom on, in doing so the condom ripped and she continued to give me a handjob till I ejaculated.

Am I risk of being infected with HIV and is it possible that if she were HIV positive, that the vaginal fluids on the outside of the condom which contained the HIV virus could infect me once the condom ripped.   :(

I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm happy to say you are worrying needlessly, David. Please listen. The ONLY confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. HIV is a fragile virus and is absolutely not transmitted in a viable form in the way you are concerned about.

As long as condoms are worn properly for intercourse you will be well protected as far as HIV is concerned.

There's no need for testing nor for further concern on your part at this time.

Thank you for your prompt reply Andy, I really appreciate your help.

Logically thinking I was aware that you can only get infected by unprotected vaginal and anal sex but I tend to worry a lot and whenever I'm feeling an ache or pain or get a headache I think it could be due to the fact I am infected with HIV.

Should I get tested in this instance?

Should I get tested in this instance?

Only if it's time for your semi-annual STD panel (which you should totally be doing.)

Are you asking if your incident was a risk at all? Pretty sure we covered that already.
