anyway i just wanted to know what is the risk of getting infected from performing oral sex to man/woman.... Of course,, Assuming that the receiver is HIV +

Bunny,

First up you should read over our Welcome Thread which contains links to our transmissions lesson.

Oral sex is a no risk situation for the transmission of HIV, with one exception. There is a theoretical risk to a person who performs unprotected oral sex on an HIV positive man. Please note my use of the word theoretical. There are no documented cases of this having occurred. I would suggest that the risk (if there is any real risk) is infinitessimally small.

Other STD's such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea, however are a different story. They are much more prevalent and contagious than HIV and can be easily transmitted through oral sex, no matter who's doing what to whom.

Is there a specific risk you'd like to discuss with us?

nah i dun have any specific risk or anything.. i was just confused because i had been reading a lot of sites.. and they offered different information..

i do have one question left though.. if we used a condom during sex (oral/vagina/anal) and it did not break... and assuming we were having sex with an HIV+ person... what would be the risk?

Hi.. I have the same questions with JMJ.

however I do have one question left regarding anal rub/frottage.... I was just wondering if the risk would be still zero if precum/ejaculation occured during the frottage both (penis and penis, penis and butt crack)

First of all, please keep all of your entries in this same thread. I have merged your latest with your previous thread.

Neither of the activities you mentioned -- anal rub/frottage, (without penetration), nor rubbing penis against penis even with precum are risks for HIV transmission.

The risky business you have to pay attention to is unprotected intercourse. And as long as the insertive partner is always wearing a condom then both are protected.

hypothetically

During the frottage, if either one of both partners have STDs like herpes or syphillis... would the risk remain zero for transmitting HIV?

Those STDs can be transmitted by skin to skin contact but their presence in the other person would not increase your risk for HIV transmission.

sorry to bother you again...

but I have some questions

1. What is the risk of fingering someone's vagina/butthole? What if there are cuts on the fingers?
2. Can HIV be transmitted through adult toys? I mean... If I took out a "toy" and used it on someone without cleaning it first... assuming that the last person who used the toy was HIV+ and just left it there for quite a while until I used it on that someone.. What would be the risks?
3. When having a sexual intercourse and the condom slips out... but not entirely slips out.. the tip of the penis is still covered with the condom.. is this a risk?
4. Rubbing precum of someone HIV+ to someone else's genitalia (vagina area, the tip of the penis, anus area).. what's the risk for this?
5. How long will a HIV+ live (given s/he takes the drugs etc)?
6. will PEP be needed for case #1 through #4?

1. No risk. Fingering is not a risk, irrespective of the presence of cuts and nicks.
2, No risk.
3. No risk.
4. No risk.
5. An HIV positive person will live until he or she dies.
6. No PEP is not necessary in no risk situations.

I totally agree with MtD's assessment of your questions in regards to hiv.

However, you need to know that #2 could transmit some of the bacterial infections like chlamydia or gonorrhea. When sharing sex toys, condoms should be used on the toy and changed between partners - or the toy should be washed with warm, soapy water between partners.

but #1 and #4 I thought Blood is one of the ways to transmit HIV. and Precum does have HIV virus in it too? Would you mind explaining it further to me?

#3 How is it bacteria can stay on the toy but not virus like HIV/herpes?

also I have another question (I promise this is the last one)...I heard that Condoms are only 96% effective to prevent pregnancy.. and you need ti have the sperm to have pregnancy.. wouldnt it be logical if the sperm accindetally comes out of the condom, it would transmit HIV too?

Bacteria can stay active outside it's host, HIV cannot.
Unless a latex condom fails it won't have sperm come out of it.

And just in case you're worrying about how would you know if the condom failed, when that happens it's not about some teeny tiny microscopic hole. It ends up looking like a fringed hula hoop on the penis.

Okay so let me get this straight... by saying only 96% condoms work.. it means 96% condoms wont BREAK? is that what it means? it doesnt mean that the sperm will get out of the condom even if it doesnt fail?

I believe it is 97%, that covers those that don't use condoms correctly, those that don't use them consistently and for the small number of failures. I take it you still haven't read the lesson on transmission. You wouldn't be here asking these questions if you would have taken the time to read and educate yourself.

I read the lessons... I didnt get the answer that I needed.. that's why I'm asking.

Fingering with cuts = involved blood
sharing needles = involved blood

You said Virus cant stay outside its host.. then why If I used a needle that has been used by an HIV+ would give me a chance to contract the virus?

Sharing works with someone the residue blood left in the syringe is not exposed to air and it is injected directly back into your vein. If the syringe and needle are properly cleaned then there is no risk.

Hi,

I was with this guy a few hours ago.. we agreed to have an oral sex. but I got carried way and during this he was sitting on my stomach and put lubes on my penis and started to jerk it off.. one thing lead to another I felt like he was trying to put it in up his butt (sorry for the language) here's the problem , I'm not even sure if it went through, cuz I felt like my penis was hitting something hard, I would think that it was his butt-cheek.. (I didnt really know like I said he was on my stomach and I couldnt see..)... but I'm afraid I could be wrong....The moment I realized what he was trying to do.. I just stopped.. I got up and left..

My question is..

1. Assuming that he's HIV+(he said he's negative but people lie) and the tip of my penis did go through his inside (I'm pretty sure.. I would have known if it went all the way) What are the chances me getting the virus?
2. Should I get those after possible exposure drug thing?
3. It's not related to my story, but what are the chances of someone getting HIv from getting fingered by an HIV person with cuts on the finger?

You know, I really don't think you need to be worried about this incident. It sounds to me like nothing of any great risk happened. Nevertheless, because you can't be sure if your willy went up the other chap's bottom, let's call it a technical risk and therefore I advise you to have an HIV antibody test performed in 13 weeks time.

Now just because I'm advising you to get tested on the basis of this technicality doesn't give you permission to get all upset and carry on like you're gonna die tomorrow. If you do decide to carry on you can expect to be dealt with by our Moderators.

You should be tested but you will almost certainly test negative. Please be more careful in future. It's your responsibility to make sure that you have condoms and water based lubricants available when you have sex.

In fact if I were you I wouldn't even get tested for HIV over this incident, but you're the one who's coming in here saying that you're not sure if your penis went into another man's bum.

You have to understand that we cannot give you absolute answers here and we're going to err on the side of caution.

If you're not sure about what happened then you should get tested for HIV at 13 weeks. You're the only one who knows what went down a few hours ago.

But whatever is going on YOU DON"T NEED PEP.

I called 2 clinics and 2 hospitals in my area, asked if they prescribe PEP.. They dont even know what that is.. So anty Idea where I might get the drugs from since i got some extra cash.. I just thought better safe than sorry...

and can you tell me what the average price is for the drugs?>

YOU DO NOT NEED PEP! It's doubtful you ever penetrated this guy and even if you did, it would have been brief and shallow and you hardly stand a chance of being infected from that. If you were the bottom and took a load, then yes, maybe PEP would be warranted. It isn't in this case.

Bunny, I don't think you're really listening seriously to anything that's said to you here, but I'm going to give it one last shot anyway.

Unprotected receptive vaginal or anal sex are the highest risk activities sexually. Ejaculation internally raises the risk even higher.

Will a person definitely become infected after a single such episode with someone who is HIV+. No, but the risk level is as high as it can be sexually.

As for giving oral and swallowing sperm, although from time to time we get reports of infection in that manner, they don't hold up under scientific scrutiny. Obviously if you have a fresh wound in your mouth from oral surgery or very bad oral care, then the possibility of risk becomes higher. On the other hand, longterm studies of sero-discordant couples, both gay and straight, who had lots of mutual and unprotected oral sex and only protected intercourse resulted in not one sero-negative partner becoming infected. So it's a matter of deciding about your own personal comfort zone about this. The facts point the way to giving oral not being a risk but you have to decide for yourself as far as sucking is concerned.

A friend of mine (a girl) recently performed an oral sex on her date with a small cut on her lips. Her lips were dry she said. After performing the oral sex on the guy, the cut bled a bit.

she also mentioned a little tiny lesion in her mouth.

I told her that she can't get infected with HIV this way

Last night I had anal sex with a guy.

here's the problem (excuse my language). His penis was too big for the condom we had.we didnt have the xl condom. He put it on anyway but it only covered the head of the penis. He penetrated me. The condom didnt break and stayed on the whole time we had sex. I'm positive about this because When he pulled it out in the middle of the sex and after we were done, I saw the condom was still on and checked the condom afterwards, it didnt break.

I know, I know I should have said no as soon as I knew about the condom situation but I was really drunk.

my questions

1. Is it common/possible for a small condom to stay on a bigger penis and didnt come off?
2. Am I at risk? considering that almost 3/4 of the penis wasnt covered by the condom?
3. Should I get the truvada medicine for this?

1. Yes, it is totally possible for a smaller condom to stay on a bigger penis. From what you've told us, you witnessed this yourself.

2. No, you were not at risk. The skin on the shaft of the penis does not contain anything infectious. It's what comes out of the head of the penis that may be infectious. The condom protected you against this.

3. NO! You do not need Truvada or any other form of PEP over this incident. You were not at risk for hiv infection.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

1. Theoretically, you could walk outside your house and get hit by a meteorite. We both know that's not going to happen. Not one person has ever been infected through fingering and you're not going to be the first. You have a better chance of finding a bag with millions of dollars/pounds/whatever is your local currency lying on your doorstep today than you are to end up with hiv over fingering with a cut on your finger.

2. No. The cells that hiv can infect are not found on or just under the surface of the skin and small cuts do not change this fact. The important thing is that the head of the penis is covered. The cells that hiv can infect are in the urethra (the opening in the head of your penis) or the underside of the foreskin (the part that is hidden when the foreskin is covering the head). These are the only sites on the penis that are susceptible to hiv infection.

It wasn't even your penis that was partially uncovered. The head of his penis was covered and that's what's important here for both of you. Any cum or pre-cum from him would have remained inside the condom and so you were protected against hiv infection.

You really need to stop stressing about this. You were not at risk.

I have a question, i had anal sex with a guy a few hours ago in which i was the receptive one. It was protected. We used a condon. It didnt break. Shortly afterwards, we decided to do frottage. I was laying down on my stomach and he rubbed his penis against my butt cheeks. We used waaay too much lube and the penis slipped into me. He quickly took it out. He was in me for a second, two at most.

He eventually ejaculated on me. Assumiing that the sperm may have been dripped into my anus.

What are the chances of me getting infected becauae of these 2 unfortunate incidents?

Do i need pep?

You certainly do not need PEP because of these two incidents.

The frottage wasn't a risk, even if cum dripped on your anus.

The brief insertion was your only risk and it is on the low side of things due to it being so brief. You'd be wise to test, but I would not expect anything other than a negative result. You should be having regular, complete sexual health check-ups anyway, as we've mentioned to you before.
