To My Forum Family!

There is something so MAGIC about meeting special folks in person from Aidsmeds...it's a spark and zing like nothing I've ever experienced before, and with Shane's and Lisa's arrival (and departure, boo hoo...), I've lived this amazing sensation now on six different occasions in the past 6 months........Trish, Robert (Redbluff), Minh, and Paul.

I've got to tell you, my heart is full of joy today as I type this! Lisa and Shane and I tried to pack as much sharing into a (too) short 19 hours as we could...and, although I felt like there were so many favorite places I wanted to take them to, we did exactly what was needed by all of us: to share each other's company, to talk talk talk, to enjoy a couple of meals (and cocktails), exchange stories about our lives and our work, to express those concerns relative to our positive HIV status (as only our 'family' can do...) and revel in the absolute wonder at having been brought together by this site.

What is most impressive to me about Shane and Lisa is this: despite recent HIV+ diagnosis, they sought support and found us here on Aidsmeds, jumped right in to the Forums, reached out to form relationships, and jumped on planes to make a personal connection!! The word courageous just doesn't seem to explain how powerful an event this is for them....or for me.

We hated it that the clock was ticking too quickly toward the end of our visit, but we agreed it would not be our last. (Shane and I begged Lisa to come to Montreal, but understand that her work schedule restricts at this time...)
What I know for sure is that each of them lit up this sleepy town of mine with their bright spirits and their laughter.

I'm listening to Josh Groban right now (thank you, Minh), and I'd like to dedicate these lyrics to my special '6', as well as to each and EVERYONE of you who have touched my life these past 10 months:

"When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary,
When troubles come and my heart is burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit a while with me

YOU RAISE ME UP, SO I CAN STAND ON MOUNTAINS
YOU RAISE ME UP, TO WALK ON STORMY SEAS
I AM STRONG, WHEN I AM ON YOUR SHOULDERS
YOU RAISE ME UP...TO BE MORE THAN I CAN BE."

I really enjoyed those pictures!  ;D You are always eating  :P And I missed my lunch today in the plane: 3 hours delay and no time to eat during the flight.
By the way, how on earth do you post pictures in this forum?

That's too funny, Danny.  Another item I have noticed is, while I don't have the talent to participate, I am a HUGE fan of Broadway and musicals.  Yep, a big ole showtunes queen.  What can I say?  hehe   :D

I'm so glad that you guys (SD & Shane) had the same opportunity to meet the impressive, wonderful, and wise Zeph as I did. From the looks of it, you guys bonded immediately, and I hope you two will be there in Montreal in 6 weeks (my gosh, has time gone by that fast?). Hmm, do I foresee a potential connection??? hehe

Hi Lisa

How wonderful that you three made such a great connection. Good on ya for making the journey to meet Zeph, isn't she magnificent. She and I and Minh met recently as well while Zeph and I were at NIH. It was so cool to be with other family members !!! I'll be meeting "Fearless" in a few weeks when I go up to Sydney to participate in a study up there. I find the connections that we are able to make through AM so rewarding and heartwarming. !!!!
Thanks for the thread and the great photos.

Paul
