Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

I did a bad thing

I paid a street girl for sex in Las Vegas this weekend.  She brought me back to my hotel room using a very long winding way to avoid hotel security.  She told me that she was "known".

She said a few other things and I think she was warning me that she was HIV positive, but I was jet lagged and horny and it went right over my head.  She said that if they caught her she could be charged with attempted murder.  She said that she had been tested for HIV and at the time I thought she said that she was clean, but now, looking back at it, I think she was telling me she was positive.

She was very careful.  She gave me oral sex with a condom and a hand job without.  She used shampo or conditioner from the bathroom as lotion.  I finished myself.  She kept her panties on, but fingered herself a little with her other hand.  I dont think that there was any contact with her body fluids.  There was no sex. 

I was stuipd and selfish.  It has been just about 36 hours.  Should I get tested or try to get a PEP dose?

You didn't have a risk nor do you need PEP.

OK. Here are the basics. THe only confirmed risks for sexual transmission of HIV are through unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse Anything else maybe theoretically risky but in the real world of HIV it's about those two activities.

Nothing you did put you at risk for HIV. There's no need for testing and of course PEP is out of the question.

It is not a good idea to mix casual sex and excessive drinking as that combination dulls your ability to make safe choices. Otherwise there's nothing more to say except get on with your life and make sure about using those condoms.

Lastly I will also say that using the term "clean" in relation to HIV status or STDs in general is inappropriate. One is either positive or negative. It's about a virus or a disease and not being clean or dirty.

Now just get on with your life.

Reading the other posts, that was what I expected to hear, but I still wanted to hear it.

What is done, is done, but I was foolish and stuipd and I never want to put myself in that position again.

Other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV so if you are sexually active getting a full STD panel at least once a year is always a good idea.
