I made a mistake and my insurance has been canceled it will be reinstated in a couple of months. I have medicare but not part D because my insurance covered all my drugs. Now I am worried about getting my drugs in the interim. Any one have any advice, I am on social security disability, my med coverage is from a small pension that I have. I am getting worried. Help

Is there an AIDS Service Organization in your area? Is that how you access your doctor? If not use this link to find an ASO in you area. http://directory.poz.com/ An ASO should be able to help you get access to meds until your insurance kicks in.

Thanks I am going to try that. It just feels funny I have always been able to get my own meds without assistance.

so? ;) :) that probably means that you've paid into the system all these yrs. You probably shouldn't sweat getting a little bit of help to cover this gap.

remember that if an ASO or state helps you stay medicated not only are you less likely to spread HIV furthering the epidemic; but you should be able to continue working, paying all sorts of taxes, which then turn around and cover the cost of your meds.

That's the logic of why ADAP is such an effective program.  ;)
speaking of which you can also check in the ADAP program in your state, if an ASO is not available. ;)

You could also ask your doctor's office if they have someone employed there who helps people with "patient assistance."  That's where the drug companies send meds at no cost for lower income persons.  At my doctor's, there are a couple people that handle this for patients.
