Negative after 7week, should I tested agin
« on: July 16, 2013, 06:51:02 pm »
Hello Everyone,

Hope, someone can help me, I am really scared. I am young gay man from ID.

I am really concern about a sexual contact that I had on May 28Th. I revived a unprotected BJ from a person that I met. We met couple of different times after May 28Th but we did not engaged in sex. I am concern that I might have got HIV from him, I have openly spoke to him about (HIV &STD) and I also stated that I am HIV- and he also guaranteed that he was HIV- too.  But I am really scared that I might have gotten HIV and I don't know what to do. During the oral sex, I did not see any blood or open sores in his mouth. But I read/heard that they might be a chance of getting HIV though BJ.

I am stressed out and not able to sleep at night. I not able to perform my job too.
Someone, please suggest .....what should I do. I am lost and confused and I will be getting HIV test done tomorrow.

Thanks,

Robin,

Getting a blowjob is absolutely NOT a risk for hiv infection. Not one person has ever been infected through getting blown and you are not going to be the first.

Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

Forget about blood in the mouth. Unless you're in the habit of repeatedly punching a person in the mouth before they blow you, there could not possibly be enough blood present to cause concern.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST FOR HIV SPECIFICALLY OVER A BLOWJOB, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hello All,

I am young gay male top here, I had (received) unprotected BJ from male on May 28th ( he claims he is negative). I got tested yesterday, use Oraquick (20min) stick and it was negative. I gave my blood today for Hiv test (4th gen) and results will be on Monday.

It has 7weeks, since my sexual contact. I will be entering a new relationship with a different male, around this weekend.  I don't want to risk his life. I have few questions for you for you.

Firstly, can I have sex with the new partner or am I putting him at risk?
Secondly, should I get tested again on aug 28th, to close 3month window ?
Thirdly, what different STDs, can I acquire from BJ?
Fourthly, I got tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea ( last week) Both were negative?
Fifthly, my doctor was saying, there is a risk of acquiring hiv through BJ, is it true  ?

I really like the new guy and want to have monogamous relationship. I am scared, he will ask me to do anal on him (unprotected) over the weekend, can I do it ?
BTW he is negative.

Please, help me and I am confused/scared!!!

Thanks

Getting a blowjob is absolutely NOT a risk for HIV.

Saliv contains over a dozen identified elements that render HIV incapable of infecting, inert. And THAT pertains to GIVING blowjobs. There is NO risk in getting one. None.

Your seven week negative is absolutely legitimate, because you had no risk in the first place.

If you wear a condom for penetrative anal/vaginal sex you will avoid HIV infection. It really is that simple.

Robin,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep everything in one thread. It doesn't matter how long it has been since you last posted in your thread or if the subject matter is different.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Just because you tested negative (over a no risk situation), does NOT mean that you can start having unprotected anal intercourse with your new fella this weekend. Did you not read what I wrote to you the first time you posted here?

A relationship of a few weeks does NOT constitute a monogamous relationship. You two need to use condoms until you've been together - and strictly monogamous - for at least three months. At that point you can both get tested for everything, together, and then and ONLY then should the condoms come off.

If you're ever in a situation where you cannot be entirely sure if you really are in a monogamous relationship, you need to insist on condoms. That's how a lot of people end up with hiv and a whole lot of other STIs as well. When in doubt, get the condoms out.

A full sexual health check up also includes herpes and syphilis testing. While syphilis is treatable, if left UNtreated it can eventually cause death - with a lot of unpleasantness along the way. Syphilis shares a three month testing window with hiv for a conclusive negative result.

Be smart - and use condoms until you can be sure of your partner's hiv status. Don't listen if a guy insists he's hiv negative (or "clean", as some people offensively refer to sexual health). A lot of people only think they're hiv negative, and unfortunately, some will lie.

You're young and three months may seem to be a looooong time to you. But listen up - three months of condom use between two lovers is nothing compared to a lifetime of taking hiv meds every single day, with all the doctor visits and expenses that come along with it.

Please re-read your entire thread.

Thank you Ann for knocking sense into me. I will use condom during our anal. Secondly, should I get tested again on aug29th ?

I wondering what type of sex will be safe with him( dont want to risk him). Is reviving BJ from him is okay ? and can he sallow ? ( he mentiond he likes it).

I am more concered about him than me and please suggest.

You present no risk to him, nor he to you through oral sex. YOU are, of course, HIV negative, and assuming your oral hygiene has not diminished to the level of Meth-Mouth (Google that) your saliva presents a formidable defence against HIV as well.

Wear a condom for anal sex and you will avoid HIV. It really is that simple.

Robin,

You're welcome.

As Jonathan says, where hiv is concerned, oral isn't a problem either way (giving or receiving). All you need to do to remain hiv negative is to use condoms for anal (or vaginal) intercourse.

But don't forget about the other STIs, which are much more prevalent and easier to transmit.

Let's take syphilis, for example. It only takes skin-to-skin contact with a syphilis lesion (called a chancre) in order to be infected. You can also be infected from a person in the secondary stage of syphilis. (click on the link I provided)

Primary syphilis chancres are painless, so they very often go unnoticed. If you cannot see the chancre, you won't know it's there. They can be present in the mouth and throat (back of the mouth), in the anus or vagina, or elsewhere where they're not easily seen, like the underside of the penis, on the scrotum, or around the anal area.

Gonorrhea and chlamydia often have no obvious symptoms. Chlamydia is VERY common and left untreated, it can lead to all sorts of problems down the line such as infertility and arthritis. Yes, you read that right. Arthritis. It's called Reiter's syndrome and untreated gonorrhea can also cause it.

Don't let all this put you off having sex - but please keep it in mind and use condoms, and get regular, routine sexual health check ups while not in a long-term, securely monogamous relationship where you've both been checked out for everything. Don't learn the hard way, like I did and many other people do every day.

While your concern for your partner is commendable, you also need to be concerned for yourself. Your new partner may be being completely honest when he tells you that he has no STIs, but unless he's in the habit of getting regular, complete sexual health check ups, he doesn't really know. He's only assuming he's ok and that's where the problem lies.

Please understand that looking after your own sexual health is also looking after your partner's sexual health. It's a two-way street.

Good luck with your new relationship and play safe.

Hello Everyone,

Please, somebody help me.

I am 26 M Gay man from Idaho. Last night, I had met someone from a gay dating website. He came over, I gave him a hand job and he came out on my right hand fingers. when, I was washing his sperm off my finger, I notice a paper cut and a torn skin(which is got through moving things) on my finger.

I got real scared and I reconfirmed his HIV status. To which he responded that he was Negative and I followed up again, during our conversation because I was getting nervous. He was confident that he was negative and he does only oral with people.

But I was very nervous. I went to Emergency Room after the incident and doctor was confident that I cant get HIV through hand job. But, his sperm touch my fingers which had  paper cut and torn skin (on my finger and was pretty red). I am really nervous, I don't know.. what to do.

I ask Doctor for PRep but he refused and said I had a slim change of getting HIV but I am having sleepless nights. I think, it is too late to start PRep, I have anxiety and depression. Someone, please help me out.

Assess my risk

You did not have a risk . The risk for sexually acquiring HIV comes from unprotected vaginal and anal sex . No one has ever been infected from a hand job and you will not be the first . Please read this whole thread again .

You didn't believe a doctor when he told you that you had no risk so I think its safe to assume you have an HIV phobia and should be discussing this with a therapist .
We can not help you with your mental health issues and we have already done all we can do in giving you the facts about HIV and the transmission modes .

Thank you for response. once again and I did not know... we had to use older thread to post our new questions. Secondly, I am a gay ( person of color) and I have oppressed through my life. I understand, why I sound like I am phobia towards HIV but I am not. I don't want to be, please provide me resources to educate myself.

Thank you

Robin,

You'll only get facts here - NOT oppression or judgemental attitudes.

And the fact is that you have NOT had a risk for hiv infection and the cuts don't matter. Not even fingering with cuts is a risk for hiv infection. Not one person has ever been infected through getting cum on cuts commonly found on fingers and you aren't going to be the first.

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. This is the main reason you cannot get infected through cuts on your fingers.

The other main reason is because hiv can latch onto and infect only a very few, very specific types of cells and these cells are not found on the surface of the skin nor are they found in shallow cuts that you may have on your fingers.

These cells ARE found in the lining of the rectum and vagina, and in the lining of the urethra and the inner foreskin (the part you cannot see when the penis is soft and the foreskin is folded over the head). This is why hiv is primarily transmitted during UNprotected anal or vaginal intercourse.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!!!
