HIV RISK??
« on: August 29, 2011, 08:34:33 am »
Hello all , This may be a bit long but i just want to get it all out which will then save any what if or but questions later ???
17 days ago I had fully protected oral and vaginal sex with a African CSW in the Uk . I lost erection half way through so she removed the condom and put baby oil on her hands and gave me a handjob till I was hard again, she then put a fresh condom on and we continued sex for a minute or two when I then realised what I was doing was wrong and decided to leave , neither condoms slipped or broke.I spoke with the lady of the house on my leaving and she told me that they had been open 30 years and have a good repuatation and all girls are tested once a month , weather this was just words for my benefit I don't know. I am a sufferer of herpes 2 but no lesions were present and I have been told on another forum that this does not increase HIV transmission risk if a condom Is used . I also have been suffering with NSU for 6 months , I have taken treatment 3 times but the discharge remains slightly which the gum clinic nurse has told me may just take time to clear up .on day 13 had the start of a dry and tight feeling throat and extreme anxiety which caused me to vomit .it doesn't hurt to swallow just feels rather dry and have no fever body temp is always between 36 and 36.9  My questions are as follows ,

1) do I require to be tested for HIV.
2) did the use of baby oil during the hand job possibly make tiny holes in the second condom to allow HIV to pass
3) does my herpes and lingering nsu infection matter if I used a condom
4) could my dry throat be a sign of HIV infection or could it just be from anxiety .

Thanks in advance for your replys , Regards, Mark

Markus,

1. No, not unless it's simply a routine, once-a-year test. You do not need to test specifically over this NO RISK situation.

2. No. While oil-based lube should not be used with latex condoms, if the oil causes the condom to break, it will cause a rip. The whole idea of "tiny holes" in condoms is an urban myth put about by the Catholic church who wants to scare you away from using condoms at all. If the condom was polyurethane, it doesn't matter what sort of lube is used.

3. No. Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv infection, no matter what else is going on.

4. Sounds like anxiety to me. If it continues to bother you, see a doctor. It's nothing to do with hiv.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER THIS SPECIFIC SITUATION, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

You are worrying needlessly so getting tested is strictly for your peace of mind. A negative result is a slam dunk for you.

I was wondering if you could tell me weather or not I should worry about coming down with a dry congested throat and slightly tender / swollen glands in the neck exactly two weeks after my encounter . Still have no fever though, didn't feel it needed a new thread just wondered if anyone already watching this one could give me some words of advice as I am going out of my head with worry till I can test, Thanks in advance

You should always follow our rule and keep any entries you want to make in this same thread. Do not start new threads.

There is absolutely nothing HIV-specific about your symptoms. But that's no surprise since you haven't had a risk for HIV.

And for future reference, neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms will ever tell you anything accurately about your HIV status. If you have had a real risk like unprotected intercourse, then only a test at 13 weeks can give you a conclusve negative result. Hopefully you will never have that kind of a risk.

I am going to warn you that if you continue to return here with more buts and whats ifs about your non-risk, you are risking getting at least a 28 day Time Out from the site. HIV is not your problem. It's your fears that are the issue, unwarranted fears that is.

Markus,

You need to read the Welcome Thread - because remaining in your original thread is exactly what you're supposed to do. If you had read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to do, I would not have had to remove your PM privilege earlier today.

You only need to worry about your symptoms in the same way you'd worry about being ill any other time in your life. Whatever is going on has NOTHING to do with hiv as you did NOT have a risk for hiv infection, as we have repeatedly told you.

If you continue to feel unwell, see a doctor. It's nothing to do with hiv.

Make sure you read and abide by our posting rules. You will not be permitted to use this forum to fret about your symptoms or your no risk incident. Please consider yourself warned.

Given that you did not have a real risk, that negative result is not a surprise here. But I can appreciate your sense of relief. And of course I expect you will continue to test negative.
