Title: Which is better?
Post by: HollyStar on January 16, 2007, 12:31:19 am
I read about the new facial filler Radiesse or whatever it's called and I'm curious as to what people think of it compared to Sculptra. I don't need it but I'm gathering info to show someone. I read the Radiesse is malable, but for how long? Also, what if the person that wants the treatment has really hollowed cheeks? Can you see or feel the filler under the skin? The pro's and con's of both treatments and others. Results and all that stuff. Any infor would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please see my thread "Results from Radiesse" about halfway down the page.  Radiesse doesn't require as many follow-up treatments as does Sculptra.  Also it will draw collagen to the areas, self-boosting the efficacy.  My dermatologist much prefers it over Sculptra.

I am not sure there is an answer to "better"... I have had the Sculptra treatments and the Derm Dr that I use  has done both...he reccomended the Sculptra for my case over the Radiesse.....they both work in the same way (  collagen collects around the substance that is injected)  but the formulation of the two are slightly different...apparently the Radiesse has some collagen in the formulation which makes the initial results seem faster / smoother..but the longer term result still depends on the internal buildup of the patients natural collagen to achieve the longer lasting result.......I had very deep ( cat 5+ ) areas to fill and he felt the control he had over the buildup was better with the Sculptra  since we were looking at a broader/ deeper  area  to fill......also my treatments were spread out over a longer time between "fills" to see how the internal collagen was progressing...( different people build collagen at different rates).....so the classic  answer is "it  depends" .....find a Derm Dr that you trust and go with the recommendations.....
