Possible Hiv symptoms
« on: January 09, 2015, 10:47:57 am »
Hello guys,

I have been worried so much and I am planning on going to a std clinic soon. I made a big mistake and will regret it for the rest of my life and I feel so depressed. On December 3rd, I performed oral sex on a mtf transsexual. She said she was tested and was disease free. A week and a half later. I started developing a mild headache for 3 days along with some neck pain. After my neck pain, I might have had a tender gland (not sure) for a day. I had no trouble swallowing, no sore throat.. Two days later, I shaved and the area started burning a few hours later and I saw bumps on my neck that looked exactly like folliculitis. Some spots went away by the next day. Other spots/bumps took around 2-3 days to go away leaving some brown spots sort of like scars(im indian currently living in the USA) where these former bumps were. I also noticed there was a painless white reddish bump in my inner lip in my mouth that looked like a chancre.I decided to wait for a week and a half before shaving with a new razor and now I'm seeing the same bumps again. Some of these bumps tingle/hurt when I touch them. I also noticed a rash on both of my shoulders and flat red spots over my chest and upper body. My hands are trembling so much Im in tears as I am afraid that I have contracted hiv and/or herpes or other stds. For the past 2 days, I have also had watery diarrhea. I bought an oraquick testing kit from cvs 2 days ago and did an oral swab test which tested negative. How accurate is oraquick at 4.5 weeks, could I test with oraquick at 6 weeks? Is it possible that I got HIV? This is probably one of my main concerns. The bump in my inner lip has gotten smaller and I can barely feel it. Please answer. I have also been waking up for the past 3 nights sweating a little. I have also had diarhea for the past 3 days. Im hoping I do not have Hiv.

I also forgot to add that she ejaculated on my chest not in my mouth. Is folliculitis a symptom of ARS?

HIV is sexually transmitted from unprotected anal and vaginal sex, so you have not had a risk for HIV in this instance . Not one single symptom you mention is specific to HIV and could be from anything, this is why we do not discuss symptoms . If you are sick go see a doctor .

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI.Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you did not have a risk and do not need to test for this specific incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hello Jeff,

I read that there are chances of HIV via oral transmission especially if there is a co-infection of another std such as syphilis which is common among MSM contact. Is this true? I am really worried as I beleve that I have many symptoms that are like syphillis such as neck pain, mouth chancre/sore.  I read through some of your previous posts and you have said there is no risk for HIV. I also read that if hiv symptoms were present, a rapid antibody test would usually point out antibodies. Last time, I took the Oraquick test which was 5 days ago, it showed negative as my status of 4.5 weeks after possible exposure. I do pl

In order for oral sex to be a risk you would have to have significant open wounds in your mouth, not run of the mill bleeding gums . In the 30 + years of the HIV epidemic there has been only a couple of documented cases of HIV linked to HIV and most had other risk factors . Getting a std does not make a no risk blow job into a risk . We also get many identical questions as yours every single day and not once has it resulted in the transmission for HIV and that is because it’s not a risk .

Hello Jeff,

Thank you for your help. This website is really useful and I really appreciate hwat you guys are doing on this website. To deal with my anxiety, I did the hiv home access test last week and sent in my results. I got my results in yesterday at 8 weeks and fortunately they were negative. As you told me, oral sex is not a risk. However my anxiety continues to pain me and I still ponder that I have hiv. I talked to an dermatologist online and showed him pictures of the spots on my skn and the rashes on my shoulder. He told me those were not rashes and were due to working out or stretching my shoulders. The brown and red spots he said were benign post inflammatory hyper pigmentation and were not infectious nor a sign of a std. In addition, I have been having folliculitis on my face for the past 8 weeks every time I shave. The dermatologist claims it is due to bacteria and not an std after showing the pictures. Do you even think there is the slightest possibility I have a different strain of HIV? I know the most common strinas in the UNited States are HIV 1 and to some extent HIV 2. I have been worried due to the various skin conditions I have been having.

The test you took would check for both types HIV ... you do not have HIV . If you continue to have irrational fears talk to your doctor and seek treatment for that . I'm wising you the best .
