Mr. Bush- your sanctitiy of marriage!
« on: September 16, 2006, 09:12:21 pm »
So we have been told that marriage means only  between a  man and woman, despite the fact of history. Well here is the latest:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4748292.stm
udan man forced to 'marry' goat

A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal.
The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders.

They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.

"We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said.

Mr Alifi, Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat.

"When I asked him: 'What are you doing there?', he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up".

Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case.

"They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife," Mr Alifi told the newspaper.
Well Mr Bush I guess as long as it was a ewe it would be okay!

I got news for you Bailey, this kind of stuff has been going on since the dawn of time and it goes on everywhere there are domesticated animals. Is everybody at it? No. Are some people at it? Definitely. The only difference in this case is that when caught, instead of being prosecuted and fined, he was given the goat and fined using the different terminology of "dowry".

There was some guy in the States not all that long ago who had been having sexual relations with - and wanted to marry - his horse. So by your thinking, Americans should also not be "protected". Think about it. Or do you just have something against goats?

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Maybe it was the goats fault. Perhaps the goat teased and led the man on !! ;D You know...winked at him, flashed it's eyelashes or something... :P
