'Sexual Cleansing' In Iraq
« on: April 16, 2007, 02:59:21 pm »
And so the march to the democratization of Iraq continues. I wish I wasn't an atheist so I could believe in that special place in hell they have reserved for George Bush.

Islamic countries are a terrible place to be either a gay man or a woman, perhaps even as horrible as Tennessee.

Thanks, but I went ahead and looked it up on my own.

It's always astounding to me how many people will jump on the wagon decrying the horrible theocracies abroad that we must help liberate the people from...yet somehow don't see the same attempts at theocracy promoted here.

As a newly-baptised southerner I can indulge in such things, AD.

In Boston it would have been too obvious to merit my typing it.

I heard that stuff over and over in ftl.  Check a map.  If you are south of Georgia, you're still the south, whether one cares to acknowledge it or not.

Ladies, we will discuss geography later...right now shia death squads are hunting down and killing homosexuals in the newly liberated democratic republic of Iraq.

Broward County is part of Israel isn't it?  Definitely not part of the South.

I've had serious offers in hammams before when traveling in Morrocco. If you consider living an openly gay life "à la western countries" yes. But then it is true for other, non-muslim (I take it that is what you mean by "islamic") countries, like Mexico and some south american countries where homophobia is very strong too. And why was it that all those western writers with a penchant for men ended up in Tangiers and other cities of northern Africa not so long ago??

By the way this is the caption that goes along with the pictures that I posted earlier.

The two teenagers shown here were executed after a religious court found them guilty of homosexuality on July 19, 2005, in Mashhad. Under the Iranian penal code, girls as young as nine and boys as young as 15 can be hanged.

No darling, that's Palm Beach County (Boca, Boynton, Lake Worth, etc). Broward's a swamp drained at the behest of white southerners and accomplished by a largely African-American workforce. The reason why it's considered more "livable" than Dade is because it's totally Anglo and one needn't learn another language to pick up a pack of smokes. Not a problem for me, but then again I'm fluent in two languages and can can cruise in many others.

I personally wanted to move to Miami, but my ex would have none of it. In his own words, he wanted to "stay in America".

what does GW have to do with Muslims going after gays? They were doing this long before the Iraq war. The ignorance here is astounding.

Jakie-

The issue here is that we were supposed to "liberate" Iraq, and that one of the main justifications for starting this bloody war was to bring "western style" democracy and values to the region. Unless "western values" refers to Casper, Wyoming then we've fallen far short.

Uh, no darling.  Palm Beach is only marginably more Jewish (14.8%) compared with Broward (13.1%)
