Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Risk of infection with oral group sex

Several questions:
1) How would you rate the risk of infection in oral group sex encounters? I have been at two gang bang parties where I (only!) had my penis sucked by a woman, but then again other men have been sucked by her just before (and also ejaculated into her mouth)
2) Would the risk increase if there was an instance of urethritis with my penis (non-specific u.)?
3) 5 days after party II (+9 days after party I) I developed a mild fever (37.2 to 37.6 degrees) which in the night increased past 38.2. My head was hot, and I had headache. However, no other symptoms (rash, ulcers--> except red penis tip because of urethritis). Is the time frame enough for ARS to develop?
6) Fever ceased on two days later (after some paarcemetomol), but reignited on day 4 (same way: during the fisrt 37.3 to 37.6 degrees, during the day). Lasted - with peaks at 38.8 - another four days; have controlled it with ibuprofen. Are these signs consistent with ARS? Symptoms have since disappeeared.
7) Took a PCR-HIV test on day 7 after party II (day 10 after party I), after the first two days of fever. Recently this test was returned negative. How accurate is this test?

Thanks a lot....because of the symptoms, I am really scared...

You are worrying needlessly about HIV transmission via receiving oral sex. In the entire history of the epidemic there has never been a single confirmed case of transmission via this very common sexual act.

There is/was no need for testing. Should you ever have a real risk then only an HIV test at 13 weeks can give you a conclusive, reliable negative result.

Use condoms everytime for vaginal and anal intercourse and you will be well protected against the sexual transmission of HIV. It really is just that simple.

As for your symptoms, they have nothing to do with HIV. If they persist you should discuss them with your doctor.

Other STDs are much easier to acquire including in some instances by skin to skin contact. So if you are sexually active we recommend that at least annually you do a full STD panel.
