Matty's in the hospital.
« on: August 20, 2007, 12:29:46 am »
I got a text from Matty tonight telling me that he's in the hospital. From what I can gather someone (plural, perhaps?) physically assaulted him. I'm not at all sure what happened, and all he's told me is that his arm's been broken. He was able to text me so hopefully that's the worst of it. He asked that I post a thread and let everyone know what happened. Please let him know that you're thinking about him.

I'll let you guys know more as I find out more, but hopefully everything'll be alright.

You are right indeed little one, the damned one got jumped by some gay bashers up his way and had his arm broken.
He needs surgery and is being tranferred to a Sydney hospital.
All is not lost though, as MtD is morph'd off his little head at the moment.

Hope all goes well, Matty

Shit, that's rough. >:( When people say why do we need gay pride anymore - this is why.  As long as a-holes think they can just beat someone up because they're gay, we need to be reminded the fight isn't over.

All went much better than we could have hoped.

At around midnight on Sunday Matty the Damned (who was a touch boozy -- let's not deny it) was jumped by three thugs at a train station as he waited to catch the 12:15 service back to Boolaboolabonbong. Apparently these brave fellows objected to his queerness.

I was king-hit (ie from behind) and as I went down one of them aimed a sharp kick at my upper arm neatly fracturing my humerus. The pain was unbelievable but I managed to get up and hide in the lavs until they left.

I boarded my train and went home. When I awoke this morning it was clear that I had been seriously injured and I called an ambulance, was pumped full of fentanyl and taken to the hospital. I was scheduled for surgery  but it was determined my injury could be dealt with by setting my arm in a hanging slab cast.

So I'm home and very stoned (lots of morphia) and still in considerable pain. I'll be wearing this thing for at least six weeks. It's my right arm thats buggered, but it will heal fully. My participation here may be somewhat reduced as I can only type with my left hand atm.

I want to tell you all that I'm deeply touched by your kind thoughts and words. This thread makes me feel much better. Honestly, it's better than the drugs. :)

I'm especially grateful to my Little Man for posting this. I love you very much Baby-Boi. Fret not, your Matty is gonna be fine. Also to Little Steve who texted me and rang me when I was in the hospital. Knowing that my Aussie Sister is there for me makes all the difference. Thanks to to Goderator Jan for texting me as well.

I'm actually still quite rattled by the attack. Those stupid young men could quite easily have killed me with their wanton and vicious act. I'm certain they don't realise just how foolish they have been.

Brothers and Sisters, you'll forgive me if I sign off now. I need some rest, but should be around tomorrow.

There's a pervert in Australia who loves each of you deeply.

Matty the Damned.

I just had a long conversation with the damned one on Skype. A little sore, a little groggy, but upbeat considering what he went through. I think the big ol' mo is going to be okay...he's already worried about not being able to groom his ginger tresses left handed. The other thing he can't do with his right hand will not be discussed in polite company. It was good to hear his voice (Matty has a very sexy Australian accent) and know that my dear friend is okay. Jaser, he told me to tell you not to worry and he will chat with you soon.

Dear Mattala...I'm relieved to know you will be OK...I am deeply saddened that such an awful thing has happened to you, I hope your recovery is swift.  You are such a decent soul to say these young men probably don't even realize they committed such a horrible and vicious act, I hope they are caught and punished.

Take care and get well soon!!!

Well, I was waiting to hear the news straight from the Kangaroo's mouth ; )

Matty, I'm real sorry to hear what you've been through, but I know your a fiesty guy and will be up and about in no time.   If it makes you feel any better I go in for wisdom teeth removal today and will be popping the pain killers like m & m's and thinking about ya!

Hang in there mate!

Matty, what a nightmare experience! It's not surprising that you're shaken by it. Just going about living your life and suddenly just how vulnerable we are gets slammed right at you.

I'd like to see those thugs nabbed but I wonder if that's going to be possible. Such hatred and evil is sickening.

Most importantly, hope you mend well and completely. It's certainly encouraging to have gotten your left handed report directly from you.

Wishing you the best recovery both physically and spiritually,

Mtd -

Glad to hear you are going to be okay.  Enjoy the morph while you can, and don't worry - left-handed (at least for some things) becomes second nature really quick!

Getting bashed sucks (oh, do I know that!), but you received great advice earlier in this thread - don't go out alone late at night if you don't have to.  We gotta watch each others' backs!

There are no words that can truly describe how totally outraged I am that this happened to you! The fact that there were 3 of them and they had to hit you from behind. What low life cowards!!!! I hope that one day they get what they really deserve! And I hope it is slow and painful!

I will keep you in my thoughts and say a prayer for a speedy recovery...but in the meantime enjoy the pain meds.

Oh no not my Matty!   I think we should all band together and kick some homophobe ass.  This is not the first time this has happened to people I consider family and well this site is considered my family.  Every time this happens it just tears me up.  It is senseless and still proves how far we still have to go. Matty I am so glad you are ok for the most part.  Please keep us up and take care of yourself.

Jesse, I can't let your use of the term "breeder" pass uncommented upon. In its way it's as bigoted and as offensive as "faggot" when that word is used as an epithet. It is a dismissal of a lot of people based simply on what? Sexual preference, right?

And the implication is those who are identified that way are some lower form of being.

Words are important and they have both the power to heal as well as to hurt. Please don't that term or any other like it on this site. Although many members here are clearly openly gay there are also others who are in fact what you have called "breeders," and they deserve to be treated respectfully.

Thanks for your cooperation in the future about this request.

I quivered at the thought of the pain in the arm. Ouch! News like this get me pissed. It just makes me feel like breaking one of those thugs neck. I guess my bad temper and sob looking face when I'm mad would scare away any bashing bandit around. I swear, if this ever happened to me, the person would be very injured, probably more than I. I'd find the guy and pay back. Sorry to say this, but that's me. I don't trust police for these things, much less the ones in Puerto Rico. >:(  Get better "Matty from the dark..." 8)

Again Matty the Damned thanks all of you for the comforting posts. :-*

I don't like the Police because like many queers I've had bad experiences with them. I would die before I'd turn to the Filth for help. They are The Enemy.

Also this is not the first time that I've been bashed for being gay. I'm sure many gays here (especially those of a particular age) would have had the same experience. Rest assured I will deal with this at the appropriate juncture.

Matty the Damned has a long long memory.

I haven't told my family what happened, my mum and dad think I "slipped" in the rain. For various reasons I'm gonna keep it that way. My parents and other relatives know I'm gay and are cool with it, but I keep my queer life and my family life separate.

It's the way these things are and I'm too old to change now.

As for the arm, well it hurts like 10 bastards but grossest thing is when the ends of the fractured bone grate together. It's just revolting, really the most awful sensation.

Kisses,

MtD

Ouch, Matty!  That is an unspeakable horror that I can only imagine half-wit hooligans performing on another person.  I do hope that you mend quickly - both physically and mentally. I do image the physical mending to be quicker, however.

Here's to your recovery and to the half-wits' journey through what I hope is a hellish future for them...

Oh Matty-
I know bones rubbing together is painful as hell.  When I had a touch of the wasting syndrome 14 years ago, I got so thin that my bones rubbed together.  I was in constant pain.  My doctor gave me Dilaudids.  I guess Morphine would work as well.  Hope you heal well and quickly.

Hey MTD..hope all is healing.  I've got two broken bones in my face and a cute little scar in the back of my head from 3 gay bashings in the last 20 years .  Fuckers are everywhere I guess.  I thought living in Texas, USA was bad for this sort of thing, but it seems everyone must keep a careful watch in this world no matter what their particular situation.  And I'll admit for the record that all three times I had had a few cocktails and/or beers.  Seems like we should be able to do that like 99% of the rest without too many worries???   :O

Rest well.

Alot of train stations in Australia have surveillance cameras these days, i just hope this was one of those with them, make it alot easier to catch the little bastards.

Glad to see you're alive and well, hope it wasn't your wanking arm!

As much as matty and I don't get along it's horribly infuriating for me to read this thread, and I hope that once his recovery is going better that he fully prosecutes these guys if they are caught.  (edit) I see that he's not going to the police with this... oh, well that's your call.  I understand fully a personal loathing for police, at least somewhat.

I was away from the board when this happened so please excuse my tardy posting.  Please indulge yourself with all the morphine you can score and know that Philicia sends her very best wishes.
