unprotected sex, now worried

Hi, 1 week back,  I was really drunk and had a sex worker from vietnam. We had unprotected oral sex and initially had protected vaginal sex. Unfortunately being that drunk I couldn't cum,  so I took out the condom. After cuddling for a while, I had an erection again and that's when I did the most stupid thing of inserting my penis on to her.  She didn't really resist and just tell me to cum outside her that's all. After a few thrust,  probably about a minute,  I realised how stupid I was and stopped. No ejaculation.

Went to see a doctor 32hours later and was given 28days of truvada and isentress.  Was checked for std and results came back fine. No gonorrhea,chlamydia or yeast. Unfortunately I have not been strictly following the regime of popping the pills every 12 hours, I normally have them between 7 to 8 in the morning and 7 to 8 in the evening.

I have been looking at this forum and understand that the probability of getting hiv is rare but I'm still worried, also should I adhere to the timing of taking my meds more strictly?

Its in your favor that you were the insertive partner but still a risk as you know . Continue to take your meds and try to take then within the same time give or take a couple of hours and you should b OK .

Please remember that pep pushes your testing window period out to 6 weeks post pep , you should expect a negative result .

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV. Some of the other STDs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid HIV infection. It really is that simple!

Hi its been about 2 weeks of pep meds, started developing quite a bad dry cough, no phlegm, no runny nose. A slight headache and my temperature is around 37.5 degrees Celsius.  Feeling lethargic and fatigue,  am even more worried now.

Whatever is going on has nothing to do with hiv or PEP. You are highly unlikely to end up hiv positive following this brief insertive incident, PEP or no PEP, but as you are on PEP, you're more likely to get hit by a meteorite the next time you go outside than you are to test positive.

Keep taking your PEP and if you feel unwell, see a doctor.
