Hurricane Ernesto - Time to stock up!
« on: August 27, 2006, 12:44:50 pm »
I know there are some other Floridians here, not sure how many in the Tampa area with me.

I was surprised this morning when I woke up and turned on the news to see that Ernesto had been upgraded to a hurricane and that the computer models shifted it east a great distance.

These are all guesses by scientist, who knows what will actually happen or where it will go.  All I know is that I need to stock up on beer, cigarettes, gasoline and maybe some food.

From this picture, it looks like Ernesto will make Landfall right here around the Tampa area, unless their predictions are wrong.

OMG!  Another freaking storm...and Jim Cantore (weather channel guy) is in Biloxi.  Ernesto...stay away from Mobile
In the past where ever he shows up...is usually where the hurricane makes landfall.

Despite current predictions...once it clears Cuba then we'll know better where its headed.  Once it hits the
Gulf of Mexico...things tend to change and sometimes dramatically.  I'm gasing up the car for sure.

Don't forget wine and beer!!

I know... its pretty much a waiting game at this point.  If it is coming to Tampa for a visit, we'll probably get excused from work Thursday and Friday.

I've heard of that weatherman... seems he is the hurricane king or something.

Boy do I admire you all for dealing with this SHIT every bloomin bloody year!!  The worst thing we deal with here is Blizards...  "Oh crap, more snow, turn up the fireplace"...  Well I guess forest fires are big one to...  I hope this storm tucks tail and turns around, stalls out, or just flat runs out of air....   ???

I live most of my life in Michigan, so I hear you about the snow... hated it.
I live the past few years in California:  Earth quakes and wild fires... hated it.

I moved to Florida 18 months ago and have yet to deal with a hurricane... I'm scared, someone hold me!

 ;) ;)

That Jim Cantore is a hurricane magnate. Wouldn't surprise me if we get a few weather channel folks down here to Cleawater Beach in the next couple days. They sometimes report from Clearwater or Redington beach.

Ed and I are always willing to share our home with Jim Cantore,(WC) or Rob Marciano(CNN)... ;D ;D 8) 8) ::) :P

We'll see what happens with Ernesto, in the next day or two, hopefully it will at least weaken, and fizzle, so as to not cause too much damage.

I told Ed  I need to go shoppping for his staples tomorrow. Chips, pretzels, and Beer. ( those items always sell out at Publix and Wynn Dixie!! ;)

Welcome to Florida,
The Hype surrounding hurricanes is often worse than their bite...I have long since stopped following local news regarding hurricanes until its pretty certain where they're going to make landfall,
however if you MUST, heres my advice on  Hurricane Supplies    although Id probablly reccomend limes instead of lemons, but I had limited props on hand...

Hype?  Come down to Coastal Mississippi and take a good look my friend.  This is the one year anniversary of KATRINA and nobody down here is taking the news of Ernesto lightly.  I assure you.  All eyes are on this storm......... :o

Oh Ray........you devil.  You think Jim is cute huh?  Ok ...yeah I suppose but he is a Hurricane Magnet so you might not want him in your house.  And the way things are looking this morning...Ernesto maybe coming to Tampa.......Just what Florida needs....Another freaking hurricane. ::)

Eric........You can ride out the storm with me anytime, sweetie :P

Hi Patrick,
I live here in Florida too and the projected path of that damn storm is now heading right for me, over here on the East Coast.
I live pretty far South on the East Coast.

YOU NEVER DO REALLY KNOW WHERE THE STUPID THINGS ARE GOING!

BE SAFE, PATRICK! ;D

I hope all of you in Florida stay safe!

I live in Kansas so all I have to worry about is tornadoes. They give us plenty of warnings so I can hide in my fraidy hole till its over which is usually a hour at the most, but hurricanes go on for hours. Cant imagine going thru that.

I just watched the latest weather track of the storm and it has totally changed (again).  You folks on the southern tip and east coast will be in my thoughts.  Hopefully it will fizzle out before it gets here.

Now... if it DOES change again and decides to come up to Tampa for a visit, I will have my web cam outside on the lanai and be broadcasting a live web-feed.

A nice bubble bath always soothes those frazzled nerves...and a few other things too ::)
Perhaps you'd like to join the bathtub boys in Bama :o  It looks like Ernesto is going right up thru Florida to Georgia.

Sweet !

You know, I was thinking... (oh shit)..   For us lay people who have not a clue what all these categories of storms are or what they mean is to have a cross ref scrolling across the bottom of the Weather Channel screen that we can ALL understand.  I propose that these be referenced in vl levels.   I.E.  > 1,000,000 would be a honker of a storm,  200,000 vl - survivable.  <50 would be a rain and high winds..   Makes perfect sense now....

I know,  my meds are fucking with me today... ;)

My dear sweet Eric...

If only it were that simply.  Each storm is unique in its own right.  For example Hurricane George made landfall at the Mississippi Gulf Coast and sat on us for two days dumping rain and high winds before moving northward.  No serious damage was reported other than flooding...however Hurricane Katrina with hurricane force winds reaching out 150 miles from the eye made landfall at or about the state line separating Louisana and Mississippi moving quickley but causing castrophic damage due in part to its size, it came in with the tide( bringing with it a tidal surge of almost thirty feet) and the storm itself stretching hundred of miles in diameter.  So you see there is no real way to know ....the warm water of the gulf of Mexico usually adds fuel to an already dangerous system..there are categories of storms ...Category 1 & 2 are not considered particular dangerous where as 3 & 4 are down right scary.  That's what we go by ...that and the sustain winds and barometric pressure inside the eye wall.

They've changed their predictions three times already.  Once it clears Cuba...then we'll see which way it goes.  I've seen them go up the eastern seaboard and then cross central Florida and go into the Gulf.  We just don't know yet.........

But my fine feathered friend....indeed you are welcome always.  Us Bubblebath Bama Boys know a thing or two about fine tuning a good looking Chevy...  And with Patricks help and all the little toys you guys bring....We'll have a gay ole time.  Rub a dub dub...three men in a tub.  Sounds good to me :P

haha... don't get me started on the South Park...

My neighbor rode in on his hog tonight as I was leaving for the bar... just when he shut it off...  I screamed out:

"YOU DAMN HIPPIE" in my best Cartwright voice...

He laughed and came over for a cocktail.  We chatted and he asked me where in the hell did I get my bumper sticker on my car from... I was like, duh... from my company Toto's Revenge!  (see sig line at the bottom and click and buy some... girls go co-pays and beer to buy!)

Anyway... the weather here is so-so.  The outer bands will be coming in around noonish tomorrow and the bitch should be up here around 3ish.

Now this time, I really am going to go to bed.  I just went out and moved the grill and other important things inside so I didn't have to F*$^ with in the morning.

Its been fun, as always!  Thank you Eric for always brightening up my day.  Can't wait to see your next reply.  I'll buy you some new Levi's and we can burn the snobby designer shit soon.

As always, with hugs,
Patsy

IFL,

Heh, Ernesto is a nothing.  We have a lot of rain, but that's about it.  Hardly any wind and we never lost electricity.  I'm West of FTL.  Hopefully it won't have much of an impact for your area.

Bring it to my house and we can party!  You can have the rum, I don't drink... we can share the brisket!

Personally I'm glad Ernesto turned out to be nothing more than a big rain storm...
after Katrina...If I never see another hurricane it'll be too soon.  I'm seriously considering
a move to the mountains...maybe in time for a white Christmas.

Patsy...you're a trip sweetie.  No doubt a real sex pistol.  Watch out for those "hippies"
he might just pull your hair and call you names....and even if that turns you on...remember
they don't bathe and they don't brush their teeth.  Yikes!  Reminds me of the post Katrina
clientel at the gay bar in Biloxi.  Hmm...and they wonder why I moved. ::)

Eric.....easy sweetie.  You don't need more Paxil....You just need a whole lot of TLC :-*

But I do have a confession..........Eric & Patsy :o
I don't have a bath tub.  But my shower is so huge...we could get lost for days.
So much for the Bubble bath Bama Boys since we have to stand on ceremony
and our feet to get hosed off ::)

Thank you dear, right back at you!  I stand on my own pretty well here in Tampa after 18 months... the fellas know not to fuck with.  I love to have fun, but if you cross it, watch out!   :o

We should have another conference... someplace in the USA... I have a tub!   ;)

Canada doesn't want me in their country so I couldn't go.   :-\

Love and kisses,
Patsy
