Happy and concerned
« on: September 23, 2010, 08:12:56 pm »
I just received an email from my daughter -- it appears that my 5th grandchild is about to arrive next spring.  While I love my grandkids and will absolutely love the new one -- my daughter and son-in-law really can't afford another.  They weren't planning on another, but they didn't plan for the last 2 either.
So -- I'm happy because I do love being a Grandpa, but concerned that the strain on her family is not going to be insignificant (her oldest was just diagnosed with Aspergers).
I need to respond to her message -- I'd rather do it in via phone, but it's a tough time to call with bedtime activities occuring right now, so I'll drop her a quick email tonite and call her in the morning.
Oh well, I'm going to try and focus on the happy part for now -- and hope that they decide 5 is enough.

Kind of ironic that I am leaving such a growing trail of my DNA behind....   ;)

Hugs,
Mike

Mike, I know how you're feeling through experience with my daughter.  Like you said, concentrate on there being another happy bundle.  And congrats!

Wow Mike, I knew you had kids but didnt know you had grandkids, and 5 at that! that is so awesome! As a parent also i understand your concern for the kids, but like you said focus on the good and the fact that a brand new "grandBocker" is coming into the world!

Thanks Will -- I only have 1 though -- had her when I was a mere babe of 15.  She loves kids -- and, thankfully, is a fantastic mother!

Thanks Betty -- nothing else for me to do.  She's so much like me in so many ways it's scary at times.

Congrats Mike. :)
