Title: good news
Post by: aztecan on August 24, 2011, 07:59:59 pm
I'm half way home.

It is 5 p.m. pacific time and I am seated in the historic - and toasty - union station in downtown los angeles.

In another 19 or 20 hours I will be back in new mexico.

I. Will type more later. Typing on a droid is a pain.

Hugs,

Mark

Lordy, that seems like such a long journey.  I'm glad I decided against the train.  Once I left, I just wanted to be in my big queen.  (bed that is)  It was great spending time alone with you and feel very lucky to have met you in person.  Thanks for helping me explore the seedier parts of town.  Suddenly craving some more chocalicious.

I had a ton of laundry to do yesterday and a fish fry at my ASO last nite; but I finally slept 12 hrs in a row last nite. Although tired, I think I'm most recovered and settled back into home.

I hope you get home soon, safe and sound, Mark. Enjoy the last of your trip. :-*

Hey! Who's getting back home last? You or Jan??  :D

Jan does not start back until Saturday...and then she crosses the date line.  Heaven knows when she winds up in New Zealand!

Hi gang,

I made it home a few hours ago. I arrived in Albuquerque at about 11:20 a.m., had lunch with my mother and cousin, then made the three-hour drive home.

I am fatigued, but am unpacked and did get one load of laundry done.

I also found that my irrigation is not running. The headgate is probably silted over again. So, tomorrow, I get to climb into the canal and dig it out. My, sometimes I sound so butch I scare myself!

I miss all of you already. I will post about wonderful Seattle a bit later, when I don't have a headache and am less fatigued.

I also managed to end up with a rash on my backside and one side of one leg. Might be from heat, since the knucklehead conductor in my car kept the air conditioning at the steambath setting.

HUGS to you all,

Mark

Good to know you made it home safe and sound Mark, sorry about the little skin problem, hope that clears up and the irrigation system gets fixed.  It was great to see you in Seattle and you are always a great roommate, a great guy!  It must have felt good to walk off that train at home, but you get to see a lot of great scenery along the way, you have seen all of America practically by train the last two years.  You should keep a journal on your train rides to AMG and how many miles you have logged already!  We also know you had an experience with a certain US Marine on a train. ;)

See you next year.  Sorry we didn't get to hug so long Tuesday morning, you were sleeping when I left.

Hugs, Jody :)

I'm glad this Amtrak derailment didn't happen until after you got home.

Me too, Henry. But I had dinner on Tuesday with three people who were taking the California Zephyr, the name of that train, back to Chicago. I know they boarded it on Wednesday, so they were probably on board when it derailed.

I hope the weathered the experience without serious mishap. They were from Indiana, if memory serves.

HUGS,

Mark

Glad to read that you are safe Mark.  I hope the others you met during your trip home are ok too.  Sounds pretty scary.
