You say you've tried everything. Does that you mean you've tried taking testosterone/anabolic steroids to combat the wasting?

This is not an endorsement, but have you been in touch with Michael Mooney and Nelson Vergel? They seem to be experts on the subject, and perhaps they would have specific strategies on how to tackle your problem. Sorry to hear things have been rough.

You might want to post more specifics, so the people on this site have more information to go by (your steroid cycles, other strategies, all the relevant numbers etc).

i have often wondered how long my body could realistically last because of all the toxic drugs that i have injested into my system.all of my friends have died and most of them were on the same drugs,so it makes me wonder why i am the only one left?THE BODY CAN ONLY HANDLE SO MUCH!!!I DO TAKE GOOD CARE OF MYSELF,WORKING OUT AND TRYING TO EAT RIGHT BUT I'M SLOWLY GETTIN TO THE POINT THAT I WANT TO REALLY JUST GIVE UP.and i'm not feeling sorry for myself either,i just fine myself existing in this world and not really being able to live in this world.i tend to shy away from wanting to meet new people (and i have always been a very attractive masculine, intelligent latin man.I find myself praying for the end(and hopefully it would be quick and with some amount of dignity)I AM NOT DEPRESSED AT ALL AND I DO KNOW THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE IT SO MUCH WORSE.DO I NEED A GOOD SLAP IN THE FACE OR WHAT??

Really sorry to hear of the wasting problem.   are you sure it is just the wasting and not combined with the Lipodystrophy????    I was in the wasting syndrome for nearly 5 yrs  1994 to 1999...Dr had me on various supplements ( liquid diet supplements) as well as Serostim (HGH )   ...I went from 175 to 130   and back to 150 where I have stabilized ever since.    I have drastically cut down the Serostim from once a day to once every 2nd or 3rd day...I only drink supplements after workouts at the gym ( they have to have at least 15grams of Protein ) the brand doesn't' seem to matter much..I eat as much lean protein as possible...fish..steak and pork..all very well trimmed and grilled...have about 1200 calories per day and seem to be staying healthy.......

the Lypo problem is more complicated....combination of the HIV itself and the meds
switched off the Epivir and Zerit to Epzicom   I seem to be slowly regaining some fat under the skin on legs/arms  but butt is still hollow and have Sculptra treatments for face.

There has been some livereffects ..not severe..not really a threat but it shows up in the blood work...like everything else now stable.

I don't know if my experience will help but I hope it will give you some hints as to a possible attack on the problems.
remember the good times...honor the past but don't live there

I'm new to this forum.  Taking care of my Uncle who is HIV +.  Is wasting syndrome a direct result of the HIV infection?

Thanks in advance.

I had to wasting episodes.  One six years ago and the other 4 years ago.  Each time it took me a good year on testosterone to gain my weight back but it did come back.  I also really concentrated on the gym and consumed a lot of lean protein and took daily protein shakes.  Now my problem is that I've gone the reverse direction and suddenly gained 20 lbs OVER my "normal" weight level!  All in 6 months time.  And this is coming from someone who has always been tall and skinny since I was a kid.
