Questions regarding symptoms

Hi There! You all have been a great help. Anyway can Hiv or Stds be spread if vaginal fluids are rubbed on the penis without any penetration taking place?

My other question is I received Oral Sex over the years from people of unknown status at massage parlors. I never engaged in Sex at all with these women. My last STD check was 18 months ago and all was negative. My current symptoms that I am having is a CONSTANT numbness/tingeling in my feet that never goes away. I am also having hearing loss in my right ear and also have ringing in that ear.

Can these symptoms be HIV related? Are they related to each other?Not sure what my problems are and my recent physical checked out fine. I wasnt checked for Hiv during the appt. I also had an MRI of the brain and that was normal.

Anyone else have these symptoms? Any help would be great.

The answer to your first question is no to HIV.  Other STD's is a yes.  Herpes, syphilis, etc. can be transmitted this way.

Hiv does not have SPECIFIC symptoms.  I have ringing and hearing loss in my ear but it was PRE-HIV.  One of its causes is TINNITIS.  http://www.ata.org/

If you engage in sex and its protected you are not at risk.  Getting a blowjob is not a risk.  So I would say your problem is definitely NOT HIV related.

We can't diagnose your symptoms here as to the cause(s), but I can tell you that nothing you have described is in any way HIV specific nor would any of the activities which you have mentioned put you at risk for HIV transmission.

You also need to know that neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms will ever tell you anything reliably about your HIV status. Only an HIV test taken at the appropriate time will give you that answer. Please read the lessons on this site about Transmission and Testing. In the entire history of the epidemic there has never been a case of HIV transmission from receiving oral sex and you aren't going to make history by becoming the first. There are other STDs which are easier to acquire so if you're sexually active it's a good idea to regularly have a full STD panel done. Annually is good and every six months is even better.

You need to continue to work with your doctor(s) to find out the real cause of
whatever symptoms you're having.

This is not an HIV situation.

Hi There! I am trying to put this issue to rest but need assurance. I havent had unprotected exposures in over 18 months or so. Since then I got married and my wife is expecting our first child. Since we got married I have never used comdoms with her and she is healthy and has had a decent pregnancy so far. My symptoms still persist which are tinnitus and numbness in my feet. I have a follow up appt next week but my ENT thought it might be a good idea to get an Hiv, HSV and Lyme test. She seems to think Hiv could be the cause Right? If not why would see bring this up. If I contracted Hiv 2 years ago would either of show symtoms by this time? Do my symptoms point to HIV? As you can most likely tell I am a nervous wreck and prey my wife and child are healthy

 Here are my concerns:

-I have had a number of women give me unprotected oral sex.
-during foreplay vaginal fluids may have touched my penis
-Always had protected sex prior to marriage.

Keep all your thoughts and questions in your original thread pine.

The answers to your questions are.  NO HIV is not the cause based on what you described.  She may bring it up because she doesnt know anything else.  Symptoms cannot be used to judge your status only a test taken at the appropriate time can.  Your symptoms point to dozens of different things.  Your "exposure" indicates they are NOT HIV related.

One thing is for sure, you didn't become infected with hiv from getting a blowjob or mutual masturbation. Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv infection.

You say you've only had unprotected intercourse with your wife, but has she tested? You should have tested together before you stopped using condoms. It's not just sex workers who might be hiv positive. If your wife has tested negative as part of her prenatal care, then you are unlikely to test anyway other than hiv negative.

Hiv cannot be diagnosed by symptoms. The ONLY way to know your hiv status is through testing. If you are in doubt as to your hiv status, testing is the only way to know.
