Hi there everyone,
I am new to this forum so please be tolerant if i make mistakes.
MY EXPERIENCE
In the beginning of January i had some unprotected sex with a woman in Bali-Indonesia, 3 weeks later more or less i have started feeling all symptoms of HIV went to the doctors and done the tests first three months later and then recently six months later (about 5 days ago).
Both tests were negative i feel relieved now but i still have the same symptoms and i believe the things are getting worst!!!!
QUESTIONS
now my question is how long is the maximum window period for HIV?
also i know that in Asia the propagation of HIV-2 is major to the normal HIV so i would like to know if the window period of HIV-2 is longer than the HIV?
Another thing which will sound impossible, since i know that HIV virus in a continuos change is there any kind on new HIV which is undetected? or the window period is much longer?
Thank you for your help

dani,
The window period is three months. Not six months, three. You are conclusively hiv negative.
Hiv2 is NOT prevalent in Asia. It's mainly found in West Africa. It's window period is the same.
If you feel unwell, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with hiv. You don't have hiv.
You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.
Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.
ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.
If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will continue to avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

thanks a lot Ann,
What do you think that could be?? The symptoms are exactly the same as but i think milder, is there any other kind of virus which gives exactly the same symptoms??
Thank you for your help

You are worrying needlessly. You have more than reliably tested negative for all HIV. You are HIV negative. Period. End of story.
13 weeks is a sufficient testing point for a reliable result. The exceptions are cases involving extensive IV drug use, organ transplant and a serious illness such as cancer. Otherwise 13 weeks will give you the answer you need.
For future reference you need to remember to always use a condom for vaginal and anal intercourse. As long as you do that consistently you will be well protected against sexual transmission of HIV.
Cheers.

Dani,
Your symptoms could be due to any one of thousands of different illnesses. Hiv symptoms are very general and are shared with many different illnesses. Nobody can diagnose you over the internet - you'll have to see a doctor if you want to know what is wrong with you. Whatever it is, it is NOT hiv. You have ruled hiv out of the picture. YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV.

Dani,
It's quite possible that the only thing wrong with you is stress. Whatever is going on, you have ruled hiv completely out of the picture. YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV!!!
If you read the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.
Please consider yourself warned.

Dani,
Excuse you why? You've more than conclusively tested hiv negative. Do you want hiv or what? Well, tough, you don't have it.
Work with your doctor to find out what, if anything, is wrong with you. Whatever it is, it is NOT hiv. You don't have hiv.
Keep posting over this CONCLUSIVE NEGATIVE hiv result and you will be given a time out. Don't like it? Find another website.
