Some people are so inconsiderate and CHEAP....

I am a waiter at a restaurant that closes at 3am Fridays and Saturdays....

This group of people came in at 2:55am and knew that we closed at 3am, I sat them down and asked if they wanted anything to drink and all of them wanted BOOZE. I bring them their booze and tell them that the kitchen is about to close if they were ready to order and they said "dont rush us we will let you know when we are ready", at this point I already knew where this was going.....

I gave them 10 minutes and politely asked again if they were ready. They said yes. They ordered the most difficult things on the menu to prepare but I didnt say anything, I took them their food and they took a whole hour to eat it knowing that we were closed.

After taking their sweet time I asked if they would like anything else and of course they wanted desert also. They took their time eating that also. We cannot mop or lift the chairs up while customers are at the table which i can understand but customers should be a bit considerate and think "hmmmm i wonder how long this waiter has been here, i bet hes sleeppy...."

We closed at 3:00 and i didnt get out of work until 4:30, but that isnt the WORST PART of this story. The bill came out to be about $125 and they left me a MEASLY $2.50 tip. I would expect this from Europeans or people from countries that arent accustomed to GRATUITY but these people were locals and I remember the same thing happening with that same group of people in the other restaurant i worked at.....

sometimes being polite because you have to sucks!!!!! especially since waiters make under minimum wage  ...tonight SUCKED lol....

Now of course im all wired from all the caffeine i had to drink to stay awake and not even the ambien is kicking in ....ill probably end up waking up at 2-3 in the afternoon and have my biological clock all messed up....

I rather be a bartender hehe at least then id be able to listen to good music and dance my ass off while i work

Exactly, people who don't respect or care for how they treat others, I believe it will eventually comes back on them. Even if it's that they get ulcers.

I also wait tables  and  I wish that people like that would have to work in the service industry for a week so they can see how it feels. Average tip where I work is supposed to be 15% and usually i get that or more  but sometimes everyone gets stiffed, Some people just don't tip. I have accepted that but it's hard when you depend on that tip to put gas in the car or buy milk and don't get it. $ 3.33 an hour is NOT enough to live on .

                                                                              Carousel, real waitstaff would never spit in someone's food or shoot a load over it(If  I could shoot a load , then I would be a porn star).   And if I ever caught someone doing that where I work, then I'd be going to jail and the person who did it would be going to the hospital.   It will come back around to those people in some other way. YES, maybe in their next life they will have to serve.   Cristy

Around here many restaurants charge a 15 percent gratuity to all parties of 6 or more people.  We always tip 20 percent...no wonder we get such good service.

Considerate restaurant owners put a little note on their menus stating....

"A 15% Gratuity will be added to parties of 4 or more.  No separate checks."
                   "Thank You for your business. Have a nice day!"

josh, why are you not in the states waiting on tables and raking in the bucks while you are still young, energtic

and relatively untouched by 'burnout'? Plus, electricity here is not that expensive and you can run the AC in daytime too.

I waited tables when I was in college and I was terrible.  I made a very good bartender though.
I just don't have the patience to deal with people...the things I used to pull when I waited tables...The things that really got to me were:

a) people who ate their food and at the end ask for a manager and say they didn't like the food... my answer to that was..."you shouldn't have eaten it then.  too bad you finished it all, you ate, you pay!"...that never went well...lol

b)cheap tippers...I did in several occasions throw the money back at them saying.."if this is all you can tip just keep it, you probably need it more than I do..."

c)sunday brunch shifts...christians just seem to be pissed off after church..my guess is that they are reminded of their sins...my way of dealing with them was by introducing my self in the GAYEST possible way...."Hi my name isssss SSSSSkipy and I will be your ssssssssserver...oh, what a cute little boy you have"....I never worked a single Sunday after this incident.


I was also know for putting saline solution in the drinks of those who pissed me off....
