questions about used needle and seroconversion
« on: June 23, 2008, 09:42:27 pm »
Good day to all the experts and readers,

I have 3 questions that has been bugging me for the last four weeks. Please enlighten me.

1. I know this is a far fetch question but I really need the answer. Is it possible to be infected via used needle in a health care center? Because when I took my hiv test 4 weeks ago the technician used 2 syringes. She said the first syringe was a mistake. And then she used a second syringe. Please eloborate your answer.

2. Is it true that HIV can pass through condoms?

3. Is a Serodia Particle Agglutination Test can detect HIV within the official 3 month window period?

Thank you and Godbless.

1. No they don't reuse needles.
2. No, HIV cannot pass through condoms
3. There are no tests approve to give a conclusive test result earlier than 3 months.

Thanks RapidRod. Please have patience to my questions. Worst case scenario, what if she reused a syringe? would that infect me? and why? Thank you.

No more discussion on this topic. They do not reuse needles. So get that off your mind. Do you have a history of OCD?

I don't have history of OCD. But I'm scared I may pass it to someone. I know its a mortal sin to professionals to reuse syriges. But why is that IV drug users can be infected via syringes compared to healthcare settings who accidentally reused syringes. Is that because in healthcare settings blood is drawn and in drug users they inject it? RapidRod I may sound stupid but I really need to know this. Thanks.

Max,

But I'm scared I may pass it to someone.

If you're using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse like you're supposed to, that's not going to happen anyway.

As Rodney says, you're worrying for no good reason about the needle at the clinic.

getting blown and vaginal fingering
« Reply #8 on: July 01, 2008, 04:40:19 pm »
Good day to everyone. Yesterday I had an encounter with a csw. I fingered her for thirty minutes while she was sucking my manhood. As I was reading all the post here. The information is that you cannot be infected via fingering and getting blowjob. How did they prove its not possible? Is it only because of the sero-study?

1. How safe is getting a blowjob and vaginal fingering when comes to being infected with hiv?

2. Would there be a risk if you have a cuts or small wounds in the finger?

3. If the person doing the sucking has a wound in her mouth or she has a bad oral condition would that be a risk?

4. What condition would change the fingering and the getting a blowjob being a no risk?

I hope I could have the reply of Ann, Andy, RapidRod, Matty, or whoever who is authorized. Thank you in advance. And may God bless us all...

Max,

1 - You're not going to become infected with hiv via getting blown or fingering.

2 - No

3 - No

4 - None

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

Thanks Ann, But how come the cdc or other medical institutions say that getting a blowjob and fingering with cuts or wounds can transmit the virus? Do they have a different research studies?  ???

Max,

It's called a CYA policy - "cover your ass". While these things might be considered theoretically possible, so is having a stray meteorite land on your head next time you leave your house. Neither is likely to happen in the real world.

question about protected sex
« Reply #13 on: August 05, 2008, 12:17:48 am »
Good day Experts,

I had a protected vaginal sex with a csw for about 20 minutes. I ejaculated with a condom and when I pulled it out the condom is still intact with my sperm on it.

I have a few questions:

1. I have a small wound in my balls because I scratch it due to jock itch. Could it be a way of transmission if the csw's vaginal fluids or menstrual blood got contact with my wound? and why?

2. Is there a possibility that HIV can pass through condoms? Because when I read the instructions in the box of the condom it indicates that condoms can reduce the risk of getting HIV/AIDS.

3. Lastly, I had a flu vaccine. Will the vaccine stop me from getting ARS if ever i was infected?

Thank you very much in advance.

1. No. HIV is transmitted inside the body. Wounds that occur as a result of scratching do not provide an adequate portal of entry for the virus.

2. No. HIV is not able to pass through intact latex condoms.

3. No. Flu vaccination will not affect your likelihood of having ARS if you were to be infected.

Maximo,

You were not at risk and you do not need to test.

Thanks Matty for the information. I really I appreciate it. In my entire life I only had vaginal fingering, getting a blowjob and protected vaginal intercourse. And these are no risk behaviors when it comes to being infected by HIV, whatever other circumstances I throw in the mix it would still be no risk. I should get on with my my life and I should learn from these experiences. Right Matty? More power to all of you. Godbless. :)

Good Day Experts,

I had oral sex with a CSW last night. I know getting a blowjob is not a risk. But before she gave me a blowjob she was intensely masturbating my penis. Due to that masturbation my penis got some abrasions or something. And I also dont know if she has bleeding gums or sores in the mouth. Would there be a low risk in my situation? Thank you.

Additional Questions:

1. If the person giving the blowjob has a high viral load. Would that increase the risk of the person getting the blowjob?

2. If there is an open sore or wound in the mouth of the person giving the blowjob would that be a risk to the insertive partner?

Thanks. Ann can you also please answer this if possible. Thanks again.

1. It would have no impact.

2. If the sore is syphilis, there is a chance of transmission, HIV requires VERY specific cells to be contacted by both parties. The mouth is very inhospitable to HIV, and the penis has a very small area of vulnerability. To date, there have been zero confirmed cases of HIV transmission through either receiving fellatio and giving/receiving cunnilingus.

Thank you Mr.Jkinatl2 for the very fast response. In your answer to number 2 question. Do you mean that I'm at risk if the girl that gave me an unprotected blowjob have a syphilis sore? Is it the only conditon to be infected via getting a blowjob? Thanks.

If thew girl in question had a syphilis sore, you would be exposed to syphilis.

If the girl in question had gonorrhea or chlamydia in her throat, you would be exposed to those pathogens.

If the girl in question had a herpes lesion inside her mouth, you would be exposed to herpes.

Those pathogens are FAR more sturdy and infectious than HIV.

There is no danger for HIV in the scenario you presented.

This is due to the inhibiting factors present in saliva, and the dearth of appropriate receptor cells on the penis.

max,

Getting a blowjob, no matter what sort of gory details you can dream up to add to it, is not a risk for hiv infection. Not one person has ever been infected through being blown and you won't be the first. Seriously.

can hiv virus stay dormant?
« Reply #24 on: September 18, 2008, 12:40:02 am »
Good day to all the Experts,

I have two questions.

1.) I have a friend who is a medical technoligist and she told me that the hiv virus can stay dormant in the body and can be undetectable by any hiv test. And the virus can activate years after the exposure. Is this true?

2.) And also according to her professor you can get infected by recieving oral sex if the giver has a bad oral condition such as sores, bleeding gums, tooth problems. Is there any study conducted that the participants have bad oral condition and the reciever of the oral sex didnt get infected?

Thank You and I'm really sorry for my ignorance.

Max,

Both your friend and her professor are wrong.

The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks. A negative result at three months is conclusive.

The virus does not stay dormant in the body. It will always be replicating, however, that does not automatically mean it is causing symptoms. A person can remain without symptoms of hiv infection for years (asymptomatic) but they WILL test hiv positive on the antibody tests. Symptoms or even the LACK of symptoms means nothing when it comes to hiv infection. ONLY hiv antibody testing will inform you of your hiv status.

There have been three long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

Getting a blowjob is NOT a risk for hiv infection, as you have been repeatedly told. Not one person has ever been infected this way and you won't be the first.

If you've read the Welcome Thread like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. ECLIA Question
« Reply #26 on: November 21, 2008, 12:06:38 am »
Good day to Ann, Andy, RapidRod, Matty, Jkinatl2.

I have questions regarding the ECLIA HIV Test.

I had a HIV test last April 2008 and the result was:

HIV 1&2         0.156         C.O.V. 1.000         non-reactive

I also had an HIV test last November 18, 2008, result was:

HIV 1&2         0.425         C.O.V. 1.000         non-reactive

My questions are:

1. Why is the result became higher compared to my test last April 2008?

2. Does this mean the antibobies are growing?

3. What is the meaning of C.O.V.?

4. Can you please assess my results?

My last unprotected vaginal sex was on July 2008. And my last protected vaginal sex was on August 3, 2008. I'm hetero sexual male. Circumcised.

I'm truly sorry for my ignorance. I humbly ask for your expertly advice.
Thank You and God bless you always.

good day to all moderators,

I had sexual intercourse last night with woman of unknown status. We had protected vaginal sex. When I withdraw my penis the condom is no longer there. It was left hanging in her vagina. I dont know if the condom protected me the whole time. Is this considered low risk? I'm circumsized hetero male. Thank you very much for your time and effort.

The way in which the condom remained in her vagina indicates it came off of your penis as you withdrew. That means you were protected during intercourse.

There is no cause for concern nor for testing over this incident.

Thank You Andy and Rapidrod,

But I'm not sure if the condom came off earlier or if the withdrawal of my penis cause the condom to slipped because the room was dark. I just notice my penis is wet. Im not sure if it because of the lube of the condom or if it was the lubrication of the woman. But I'm hopeful because when I ask her where was the condom and she didnt take time to hand it to me. As a responsible sexually active adult should do I will test as part of my annual check-up. I just hope everything would be fine. Thanks and more power!

Max,

If the condom came off earlier, it would have been pushed up inside of her. Like Rodney says, next time hang on to the condom when you withdraw.

And read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them correctly and with confidence.
