Is Complera a possibility for me?
« on: July 09, 2012, 12:18:57 pm »
Ive been under treatment for about a year now taking the Tenofovir+Ritonavir+3TC+Reyataz combo. Im doing fine...last blood test in February showed a VL of 50 and CD4 of 340, compared to 290 a few months earlier. My latest test will come out this friday but I think its safe to say that I'm probably UND by now.

I do fine with this combo but Im wondering if theres any possibility of switching to Complera. I'm very grateful for my meds, as they have been "side effects free" so far, but I wanted to know if theres any hope of me being able to receive a "1 pill a day treatment" in the future, like so many other people do these days.

I can't take Atripla for my virus has a resistance fo Efavirenz.

Well I just read an article saying that Complera is mostly used on treatment naive patients.

What about Quad then?

Whether this is an option really depends on your genotype (resistance test). Resistance to efavirenz may well impact on the workability on rilpivirine, one of the drugs in Complera.

for what its worth my dr was going to switch to me comperla if i wanted to do it and i wasn't treatment naive. I just chose to not do it because of my acid reflux meds. I'm waiting for the quad pill, i might switch to that one.
