Title: my brain's not working
Post by: ademas on August 05, 2007, 10:58:27 pm
Can I blame the Sustiva please?

I need to get off this shit.  Seriously.

I've been on Sustiva and Combivir for 5-6 years now , and after reading here for some time, I'm motivated by some of you who have happily changed to other regimens.

I'm reading about my other options, but I swear, my eyes just gloss over.

It sounds like Viramune is not an option, as my CD4's have been fairly consistent in the 600 range.

I had such ugly side effects from my years on Crixivan and Norvir (lipodystrophy, trigs out-of-control) that I pretty much swore off all PI's at the time.

Reyataz sounds like a possibility, though, as long as I don't have to add the Norvir boost.

If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Meanwhile...back to the Lessons and Drugs sections!

Oh honey, I'm sorry to hear that Sustiva is causing you such problems. As you'd know it's an all too familiar song you're singing.

Since you're not treatment naive, I very much doubt that you'll be allowed to take Reyataz without the Norvir booster. With respect to Norvir, the dosage that's used to boost Reyataz is much lower than the dosage given when it's used as an anti-viral in it's own right.

Thanks Matty.

I might be stuck with what I'm on, but I'll talk to the doctor next week.

I appreciate your reply.

Addy-

At least you can be assured that Sustiva is breaking through the blood/brain barrier, so your brain's working better than many (mine included).
