I've been seeking a Volunteer position for over 5 years and have yet been able to find one in the HIV community.

I've contacted every Agency in the area including Aids Action Committee in Boston and keep hitting a stone wall.  There are lots of positions in Boston (50 miles away) but I've been told that NO VOLUNTEER positions are available in my area.

Its ridiculous and frustrating that a CITY who has a Health Center that are specific to treating people who are HIV+ are also hurting for funds yet don't have Volunteer positions available.

I've contacted Hospice, AAC, New Bedford Health Center, Volunteers.org and any other Agency I can find or think of and still nothing.

My background is in the Medical Field.  I've dealt with Confidentiality issues throughout my career was a Toxicologist, Chemist, Marketing & Sales Assistant, Customer Service Manager, Quality Control/Assurance Manager, wrote SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), and also worked in Research & Development.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.  I have a lot to offer an HIV Agency and would appreciate utilizing my experience to help others who are less fortunate than I.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi SensuousWolf-
Do you have a local ASO that holds support groups?  I just joined one out here in Springfield, Mass and they have peer support training for people with HIV.  I have been trying to do something in my area too.  I will find out any information I can and send it to you ,if you are interested?  You might try the DPH too.

Good Luck,
Snow
