HIV replication and HPV vaccine

HI,

I noticed in the news today on Reuters Health that it has been discovered that the HPV vaccine inhibits HIV viral replication in vitro.

I was thinking of getting this vaccine anyway (even though I am a guy) as my doctor said it might be a good idea when I asked about it. I figure if it cuts the risk of anal cancer then why not?

What are people's thoughts on this? Is there any downside? I am thinking as I can afford the couple of hundred bucks then I may as well give it a chance.

To some degree you can add the suppression effects that Valtrex, treatment for genital herpes, in the mix.

At first thought, I am in favor of anything that can help keep the virus down. And it would see that a vaccine that works on something that we are concerned with, such as Hep A,B and PCP and the flu shots we get, would also include any vaccine that helps protect us from OI's.

My only concern with HPV Vaccine and Valtrex is, how does the vaccine or medicine work and can it cause any long term harm to ones ability to fight the virus.

In terms of Valtrex, which I do not have any knowledge of, is the suppressive effect potentially making the virus mutate and could it then be a problem later?

And in the terms of all the vaccines we get, is there a down side to essentiallying getting vaccinated for more and more stuff?

I'm going to do some research on these concepts, if I find anything of interest I'll post and I hope others will also.
