Title: Lymph node groin swollen?
Post by: whereami on November 07, 2006, 01:06:40 pm
Hey everyone,

I have been through the fear of it all before and am more educated now so I am not worrying much.

I was dating this girl who 2 weeks before she was hanging out with a much younger friend from work.  We are 25 and he is 20.  We started dating around mid august and I broke it off about 3 weeks ago.  Last time we had sex the condom fell off and didnt realize till we were done which was probably 5 minutes after we changed positions.  So 5 minutes max.

I have had molluscum before .. around 2 years ago.  Disappeared over a year ago and it turns out she has it now as well so 90% chance it was from this other guy because molluscum dies on its own and I didnt have it anymore.  I dont know this other guy... but I know that he was cheatin on his girlfriend who wa slike 16, he took off the condoms when he was having sex with this girl, doesnt sound like the smartest kid and I have no idea how many and who he is havin sex with.  I did see one or two molluscum spots in the last 2 weeks but either my body faught them off real quick or they werent molluscum and I got lucky.

Everything is cool except this large bump in my groin.  No fever, no fatigue, no night sweats, throat glands.. the main big ones, a little swollen and dry throat but I think its the change in the weather and the fact that I sleep in my garage.  The bump in my groin is not in the crease.  It is close to it but more like an inch into the pubic hair.  Maybe a little less than an inch.  The skin is red above it and its firm and painful if i touch it.  When i push it i can feel it goes pretty deep and is circular I think.

THats my story and my question is:  Is it a node or some monster infected pore or pimple.  No opening of pus like a pimple.  BUt everything I read says groin nodes are in the crease or more towards the leg? Are any nodes more towards the pubic area region? THis is close to the crease but I would have to say its in the pubic area not the leg.  Everything else is cool and I read that one swollen node is most likely not HIV related. I dont have insurance right now so am waiting to see what info I get here before I go to the doc.  Thats about it I think.  Size wise id say its the size of my pinky nail if that helps. If you need any more info please let me know.  Thanks.

Forgot to write that this showed up between 4 and 5 days ago and as for location.. this might help.  If I run my finger up the crease on my left side I can feel it on the right side of my finger... thats how close it is to the crease.  And it is level with the top of my penis.

where,

If you've had unprotected intercourse, you need to test for hiv three months afterward. Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus and more so from a woman to a man, so the odds are in your favour of testing negative.

You also need to show this bump in your groin to a qualified doctor. We cannot possibly tell you what it is - although we can tell you that it isn't hiv related.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Hey anne

Thanks for the reply.  I used to get hiv and std checks all the time but after my last scare pretty stayed away from sex for a while.  I will be getting myself tested and going to the doctor to show this lump but all I really need right now is someone to give me a little info on swollen groin glands... People say they are in the crease.. thats the most info I can find.  If they werent exactly in the crease would they most likely be more along the inner leg or more in the pubic hair region?  Do they make the skin red or are they just painful lumps under the skin?  Are they more circular or in a different shape?  Its really location that I want to know most about.  If anyone knows please share the info.  Thank you.

where,

Forget all the details about lymph glands - their exact location and size varies from person to person. Only a trained doctor can make an accurate assessment of your glands, so take yourself to the doctor and find out what your lump is. It may not even be a gland.

If you've been having unprotected intercourse, you need to stop. You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.
