very scared about possibly having eaten infected fluids
« on: November 24, 2006, 01:49:54 am »
A little over 3 months ago I met a girl in England while I was visiting there(she was african american) whom I had a brief relationship with. I was 17 and she was almost 18. At one point we were making out on my cousin's bed and she started humping my crotch area with hers. She had her underwear and pajamas on and I had my boxers and jeans on. We were humping for a few minutes and I ejaculated inside my pants and she may have too or probably at least had vaginal secretions. I am extremely concerned that our fluids could have mixed and soaken through my jeans and infected me through my penis with HIV.

I have searched similar questions like this and there seems to be a lot of contention over whether or not this is an actual risk for HIV or not. Many seem to say there is somewhat of a risk while just as many others seem to deny this. Could you good people here give me some advice on this matter?

I am planning to get tested next monday as this has been bothering me so much and I am literally paralyzed with paranoia. I don't know for a fact that this girl has HIV but I generally assume that everyone does just to be completely safe. I feel like I made a terrible one time mistake here and it's ruined my life.

Like I said, I will be getting tested next monday or early in the week for sure probably, but I would still really appreciate any advice that you good people here could give out. I know you're all very knowledgable about this sort of thing and I want to be prepared. I feel ashamed to ask here but it's driven me mad. Thank you all in advance.

Edit: Also, is Hep. C just as big of a risk here? Or greater?

Hey Panic,

You were not at risk due to fact that there was not any exchange of bodily fluids nor was there any unprotected sex. You had your clothes on.

I'm a little scared that there could have been fluid exchange if hers and mine mixed in or on the surfaces of either of our pants and made their way through our clothes and into my penis.   :(

I have heard that the fluid exchange needs to occur inside during actual penetration but I have heard that this is a lie as well.

p.s. is Hepatitis C. more, less, or just as likely to have infected me this way? And should I be tested for both?

You heard wrong. You did not have a risk. Take the time and read the links in the "Welcome" posted at the very first. Which says, "Please read before posting."

"Hearing" stuff about HIV is a really good way to hear a lot of nonsense that will scare you without giving you any accurate information.

As Rod has suggested, read the lessons on transmission and testing which will give you solid basics about these issues.

Mixing bodily fluids is quite different and harmless when it is done in circumstances such as you have described. HIV is a fragile virus which requires a receptive setting such as what vaginal or anal intercourse provides. The circumstances you described do not fall into that category. You have no cause for concern about HIV this time. Nor any need for testing.

Just remember that when you get around to having intercourse you must always use a latex condom everytime. It doesn't matter what you think you know about the other person's history or how much you like the person or anything else. A condom is a must. Evertyime.

Cheers,

Thanks a lot all. Also, I know this isn't the right place to ask about Hepatitis C but nobody else seems to be able to address me properly about this. With the encounter I described in my first post, should I be worrying about Hepatitis C too? Do I need to get tested for it? Was it a bigger risk?

Hepatitis C is primarily transmitted through infected blood or shared intravenous needles. Nothing you have reported leads me to think this is an issue for you, so you can scratch that from your worry list as well.

Getting Tested Soon, Will Smoking Marijuana Affect Test Results?
« Reply #8 on: November 27, 2006, 07:25:56 pm »
I am getting tested for HIV and hepatitis C tomorrow (monday). On Saturday night I smoked marijuana. Could this cause a false positive test result because I have heard that marijuana lowers your immune system. Please help fast! Must know tonight! Thank you!

Teen,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

You were never at risk for either hiv or hep C infection.

Smoking marijuana will not affect your test results, even if you had been at risk.

Not one person has ever become infected with either hiv or hcv through dry humping and you will not be the first.

Actually I am being tested because when I was a sophomore in highschool this asshole kid stuck me with a thumb tack in my back and I think he did it to a few kids before me so I am concerned about that. Thank you for merging my thread and I'm sorry about the booboo of making another.

hi guys and thank you again in advance for reading this question of mine

a while ago i asked a question on here about the risk of a clothed humping sex incident which you guys told me i had zero risk for. i got tested anyways at the 3 month mark and u guys were right about that. also i couldnt find my old post but i know you guys like to have them all in one post so if you wanna merge this one into my old thread then thats fine :) i just dont know how to do it sorry :)

ok here is my question, i know it sounds silly so please dont make fun of me. its embarassing enough without worrying about hiv from this but i am so here it goes:

last friday at school i was walking with my friend ryan down the halls at school. we saw a muffin on the ground and we kicked it around a little and then he picked it up and brought it into class with us. i didnt see him bring it into class because i just wasnt paying attention. anyways he gave it to his girlfriend because he was just joking with her and he knew she wouldnt eat anything he gave her. so because i was stupid and didnt see him bring it into class because i am dumb sometimes like that i asked her if i could eat it because she left it on her desk but wasnt touching it. so she gave it to me and i ate about half of it then my friend yelled at me and told me that was the muffin that was on the ground! I spit it out onto the ground right away but I had already swallowed about half of it.

at first i was just disgusted since well i had ate a muffin that was rolled around on the ground as anyone would be grossed out by that... but then next period when i had gym class i was telling my friends in that class what i had done and my friend Doug went over to my other friend Chuck. and whispered something into his ear that i couldnt hear. now this is where i think they might have been just messing with me but i am not sure. so anyways after Doug. whispered to Chuck., they started laughing at me and told me that Chuck and another one of his friends had taken that muffin from a table
during 1st period. he said they had taken it to the bathroom and cummed on it then put super glue on the bottom of it and stuck it to the floor to watch people pick it up (but not be able to because of the super glue holding it down... dumb i know but this is what they said they did)... so anyways i was freaking out and really mad at this point. i went back to the trash where i had thrown out the muffin and i looked at the wrapper. i saw some clearish liquid type stuff on one side of the wrapper which looked like super glue to me, not cum. because it wasnt gooey and pure white like cum is. so i got a little relieved after seeing that but still freaking out a little. (again these guys could have been lying but there is a chance they could have been telling the truth too so i dont know what to believe).

so then i talked to the other kid who supposedly did this to the muffin with Chuck. i pretended that i wasnt the one who ate the muffin to him so hopefully he wouldnt change his story or something for fear of getting in trouble or something. so jokingly I said to this other kid who did it with Chuck: "hey man... haha. i heard u and chuck did something funny with a muffin? like u guys jizzed on it or something, haha?"

he laughingly replied something to the effect of "haha what? nah man lol. we put super glue on it."

so this further caused me to believe that chuck and doug were lying to me but still i dont like to take chances with stuff like this.

well on christmas day which would be approximately 3-4 days after my ingestion of the muffin i got very sick with headache, lung flem, coughing, sore throat, semi swollen glands. my temperature was up to 102.9 degrees on christmas night. so anyways i went to the doctor the next day and he checked me out and gave me some medicine for my cold. he seemed to think i had the flu. i tend to agree but i am worried this could be ARS if thats what its called (the early symptoms of AIDS?). so just to get everything off my mind with him I also told him about the incident at school. he told me it was nothing to worry about. he said even if there was cum in it that my stomach acids would digest the HIV virus and i would not contract it. while i think he is mostly right i tend to have reservations about what he says because he sometimes will brush off my concerns before really hearing them out all the way because, admittedly, i do have some anxiety/hypochondria issues.

so given everything i have shared here, i want to know what u all think the chances are that i could have gotten something and if i should be tested in 3 months?

also i should note that after these kids supposedly did or didnt ejaculate onto the muffin (im realy not sure if they did or not or if they were just pulling my chain =/ ) at least 20 minutes went by since i ate half of it.

thanks all for reading if u got this far. please help me =( thank you and merry christmas

There was absolutely no risk for HIV in the incident you are concerned about -- not even if it was HIV+ cum on the whatever that you ate.

Your ongoing concerns make me wonder if you have taken the time to read the lesson on transmission on this site. You will find a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section. You get all the basics there and you need to become better informed in general about the issues.

You're worrying needlessly and letting your mind go nutz with what ifs and such -- all out of ignorance of the real issues. This is about HIV phobia and not any real risk. It's important that you become better informed because this epidemic is going to be around for a long time to come.

Read the Transmission lesson.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

This is flu season, so don't freak out.  As Andy said, read the Transmission lesson.  Your risk for HIV is absolutely zero and your fears have no basis.

Yeah, anxiety is a big problem.  You need a therapist, not HIV testing.  HIV will be around for a long time and you will come into contact with at least one infected person in your lifetime.  You cannot live life in total ignorance about how it is transmitted and freak out over events like this.  Not only that, but once you start having sex (I get a vibe that you are still a virgin) you need to learn how to protect yourself when you actually have a possibility of contracting things.

Teen,

This is the second time I've had to merge your threads. Please read the Welcome thread like you've been asked to and take note of our posting guidelines.

Please also read through the Transmission link you'll find in the Welcome thread. You weren't at risk in this incident by any stretch of the imagination.
