I usually use Safari, but have firefox. It is the same but different - sort of like living in Europe. Everything is here but not the same. Like I can use the aidsmeds spellcheck on firefox while I can't on safari.
It's sort of like getting a new toy.

Uh, yes there is spellcheck in Safari.  Go to "Edit" > "Spelling" then check off "Check Spelling as You Type"

I hate Firefox.  Camino is my #2 browser, though I'm eagerly awaiting the 2.0 completion of Shiira, a new Japanese browser as I've sampled the beta version which while dutifully buggy shows great potential.

I use both as well except that Firefox takes longer sometime to download treads that are getting too long, especially with the ones that have pictures in them.

As for Safari I use version 2.0.4 (419.3) and as of 1 week or so ago, I can now use spell check.

Like Philly said you can use the Edit and select check spelling as you type.

I also hacked my Safari icon to look like a flame-orange pith helmut.  I forgot how I did it though... I followed instructions from someone's blog.  I'm sure I can located it again if I really tried.  It was easy to do, and looks so much better than Apple's icon which I have never really understood conceptually.

I use -though no one can tell the safari spell check, I can't use the aidsmeds spell check on safari.
I find firefox sluggish to open but my friend says it is better for downloads.

I was at the 1986 National Rainbow Gathering at Hearts Content in the Allegheny National Forest and had a cool little tent I lived in for about a week. It was about 10 yards off the main drive through Bus Village along a little winding path I made. Each side of my little path was lined with foxfire, a luminescent moss that made nice glowing tracers for me to follow at night when I was tripping my brains out...

as for firefox, it is my default browser

i like the tabbed browsing, I use the goggle search a lot, as well as wikipedia and dictionary.com which I added to the little search box

I love the right click option to Search Web For: when you highlight a word or phrase. Its fun for cold surfing

I use Firefox wiith XP. Internet Explorer was a joke, a 62 'VW with a rebuilt engine on the information superhighway.

And I'll need to figure out the spell-check around here, obviously.

  Andy,

I was thinking the same thing.  I think you and I are the only people to ever see the movie Clint would love for everyone to forget...  With the exception of the last two minutes the movie was terrible.

Is this a good time to admit that in the past I've given up my ass to someone to come over and fix something on a computer?  I suppose that's almost like prostitution.

I've tried most of the browsers.  Firefox is okay and I seem to be using it most these days.  Don't get me started on IE7 though...yee gads.  I do tech support at my job, and I don't EVEN want to go there.

And as a side note Philly.... I'm so glad someone else around here knows what torrents are....LOL.  We should talk.

I'm a Firefox fan, mainly because of the many useful extensions.  And am happy enough with XP Pro as main operating system, did beta testing of Vista since last June and still keep it on a partition to play around with.  Am trying to get used to the new Office 2007...still have to go back to Office 2003 soemtimes to get stuff done...damn Bill Gates :)

I've heard a few complaints about Vista already. I'm working with XP and uses Firefox as a browser. Was having major popup problems from IE. And yes, I did have popups blocked. Just became a pain.

I am still using IE -7 And it has been great. I really do like it, and I haven't had any problems with it.

My own curiousity, makes me want to try firefox, or one of the popular browsers. Chances are, I will download it sooner or later, just to see what all the hype is about. Just got to read up more on it.

Still holding out on Vista though.... I like XP

Hmm...I don't have any problems at all with IE7...I do however want to download Firefox, as Ray says, I'm curious also.

I don't think I will venture into getting Vista anytime soon, I like XP just fine.

I feel really bad about this post, not one bit of drama!

My friend teaches at Goldsmiths in London and works with macs. When He was over and staying with me we were downloading limewire. On safari it would quit and crash, he then installed firefax and downloaded firefox no problem.
I am always using safari, but now that my doc has ignored me and I am on a forced holiday, my mind has been wanderling a little and one of the things is to play with this.
The fact there is a "getting started link" and "firefox central' made me think this something  alot more to play with
Any suggestions I should lok out for?

I find Firefox GUI to dreadful to bother with.  Why offend my eyes?  I have not encountered downloading problems with Safari, nor have I read of similar complaints and I'm a regular on a couple Mac-oriented web boards.  Some people like all those extensions, I don't.  I prefer a browser to be lean rather than bloated with RAM hogging fluffery.  But if there's one thing I've recognized is that people get very defensive about their browser selection... it's so subjective.

firefox. IE is worthless. What are they smoking in Seattle? Google has spreadsheets and doc software you can use for free. MSFT needs new blood now. Its like they are always chasing the newest fad or trend rather than inventing it. They are lost.

Used Opera briefly before I started using FF.  And now that I am so familiar with the fox, too lazy to use another browser. :)
